Hey y’all. New Volvo owner and new to the forums. Bought a 2005 v50 2.4i with 90k miles in pretty good shape during my test drive. Soon after taking my new pride and joy home I started hearing this strange sound after powering it on. I can’t really describe the sound but if you click the video you should hear it. Happens for a few minutes, 3-5 max, after RPM hits around 1. My A/C works intermittently as well and tends to blow cool air after 15 mins or so. Not sure if there could be a connection. No codes showing up on my reader. Happens with cold start only. Has anyone heard anything like this ..read more

My horn began honking all on its own, my safety, flashers, turning off and on on their own, and my highbeams will not stay on. Other strange things happening. I serviced as best I could the CEM, to no avail. Same issues happening. Any suggestions? 2005 V50 ..read more

I just switched to a Volvo car for the first time in my life so I don't know if this is even possible. With previous cars I was used to Cruise Control always being active and usable as soon as I start the car, I didn't have to activate it with a "cruise" button but could just drive away and use cruise control whenever I'm in 4th gear or higher or drive above 50 kmph. But with my v50 I have to press the cruise button every time I shut down and start the car before I'm able to use it with the + and - buttons. Hi all, yes i know these have all been covered in one topic or another, but i want to ask if anyone has had a similar problem. i bought my 2010 V50 last week and everything was fine and working well, all interior switches for windows, door locking and mirrors were in top form..... . That is until 2 days ago when the drivers door window and mirror switches stopped working. The door still locks ok and all the other windows open on their own switches. Hello, I just bought a Volvo V50 the other day with 129,000 miles. Car drives great but i'm a little concerned with a burning rubber smell from my back passenger tire. I was driving down the freeway after a 40 mile journey when i started to smell a burning rubber smell inside the car right before i arrived at my destination. It seemed to be coming from the air vents inside so i let it cool off for about 30 minutes before driving again. Hi group. After some help please literally Brought my 2008 2.0d v50 3 weeks ago 2 out of the 3 its been sat on my drive in bits. The seller started it before I arrived to clear the smoke. anyway I brought it! I did notice after driving it on the the motorway for an hour and half it had a very faint misfire/idle lumpy. My V50 (2008, 1.6D) recently shut down completely while driving on the highway. Engine turned off, all electrics. Said "error in anti-slide system". Dead. It got towed to a workshop that saw a lot of error messages within the electric system and proposed me to try to an electrician office. I managed to drive the car home from the workshop and now try to figure out the next steps. Here is what happens when I try to start it: 1. I go to the car and it starts normally, no error codes 2. Hi everyone, I have a problem with a v50 I got for free! It will simply not idle. I will give some info first about the complications when I got it. The car had been left standing for 3 years at someone who would fix the idle issue but it was never done. The owner eventually got tired and told me I could have it if I went and got it myself.
