Hey Folks, I have a 06 XC70 that I take on some pretty bad roads for hunting. I was in Lapland and hit a massive pothole last year on the front passenger side, ever since there has been a strange clunking sound whenever I go over bumps and potholes. I don't get any sound if I go straight over a speed bump, but any uneven surfaces produce the sound again. I have read many posts about V70 audio systems etc. and spent some time to get familiar with what can be done when keeping it OEM (thanks to this forum!). My car had a pretty basic system (HU-603 without an amp, speakers with the white stickers and treble speakers in the D pillars). I changed it to HU-803 with an OEM 200w amp (soldered the amp to radio wire myself as the OEM amp wires are not easy to find here) and added blue sticker... I have a v70 that makes like a single pop sound when accelerating from a stop. I suspected the cv axles, but they look fine, and i replaced the passenger side one. I also raised it jack stand and tried to replicate it with the wheels of the ground, no sound at all. Could it be suspension related, i have also recently changed end links so not really sure. Just bought a brand new to me 02 V70 XC. Only 70k on it one old lady owner before me the whole car is immaculate not a spec of rust or a scratch on it. Vehicle sat since 2022 before I bought it had a small oil leak when I bought it talked the guy down to $6,000 from 9k thinking I’d spend as much as $2,000 on the repair. 400 miles into owning it I got a major oil leak from left rear engine bay behind the timing belt, consensus seems to be cam shaft seals or pcv system.
