My dad always used newspaper in his chimney starter, but I have no newspaper but a TON of Amazon/shipping boxes. If I cut up the boxes finely (not using maybe any tape or stickering on the box I figure), could I use that to light my coals ..read more

My neighbor showed me a couple of briskets that had been on for 24 hours. He was only cooking at 200 degrees. Geeze they stunk (smokey) awful bad. I cook mine in 6 - 8 hours but I suppose you could easily go longer at lower temps...anyone else leave 'em on a smoker for that long? Gator ..read more

I'm thinking about buying one. The previous owners had a huge Treager pellet Grill. It was a monster right on the deck.By my bedroom window. The deck measures L- 20'x W-9'. It is covered. (Was that even safe?) We don't need a massive one. What should I be looking for? Pro's and cons ..read more

I am new to this forum but have a big question. I am looking for a top quality charcoal grill. I would like something rectangular. I have a nice smoker Meadow Creek BX50 so this is about grilling. I would like to be able to adjust the high of the coals as well. I did see the M Grills B2 and thought it was cool but I’m new to charcoal grills. Lovesome recommendations. I’m sorry but I have to admit I’ve been on propane for 47 years. (Feels good to get that off my chest). Thanks for listening... Read more ..read more

So, my 5 1/2 year old son brings me a Dr. Suess book for our nightly story. I tell him I don't want to read Dr. Seuss so I tell him "let's read a book about BBQ". So I get out Smoke and Spice and read the first couple of pages. I know he's not absorbing any of it other than BBQ, pork, smoker, pit but I figure if he's interested enough to sit for 5-10 minutes and listen to me read about BBQ then maybe he'll be interested enough to learn as he grows up and he'll have a hell of a pit to cook... Hey folks we've gotten away from the categories here at BBQCentral. I'm sure everyone knows the difference between bbq and grilling. And if it's made in the oven, it should go in the General section. No biggie, but let's get it right. Thanks ..read more

Hey guys, I had an offset smoker and it finally gave out on me. The bottom of the smoke chamber started to rust through so we tried our best to patch it up, now the fire box is rusting through and its a fire hazard so i had to finally toss ol' smokey. I need suggestions on types/where to get a new grill/smoker. I really like the Santa Maria Grills, Smokers, and gas grills(i'd love a charcoal but I've yet to see big ones). I do pretty decent bbq parties. My offset was a pretty standard size... Read more ..read more
