There’s a decade old thread in here somewhere I started when I bought Ellie, my beautiful GSP. I updated it recently mentioning we lost her to cancer late last year. She was a pedigree and being such a great dog I wanted to continue her line, so I bred her a few years back. We kept the best bitch pup and her line seemed secure. At four months, our pup Pepper wandered on to the road when we let her out for a leak, car came speeding down the road and that was that. Just like that Ellie’s line that I hope to continue through my life was snuffed out from the get go. Nearly 6 months have passed ..read more

Hey guys, been lurking around for a while but first time posting. Hoping someone in the Nelson/Motueka area can help me out. I'm after a bit of deer hide to do some scent training with my pup, doesn't need to be anything flash or big as long it smells like deer. I haven't managed to bring anything home myself recently, Cheers Jack Attached Images   ..read more

Hi all, My dog has just turned 6. I recently spent some time with family where they have a dog that at 9 has crook cruciate ligaments and can't really do a whole lot. When have people on here retired dogs, provided they are still healthy but just old? I'm hoping to get at least three or four more years of hunting with mine yet , he's certainly not showing any age or ill effects on the hill but I want to make sure I get those years if that makes sense. Cheers hebe ..read more

Absolutely gutted to be posting this but personal circumstances dictate otherwise. I’m looking to rehome my 4mth old border collie bitch Gem. She’s super intelligent , friendly and loves to play. She’s fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and registered . Has a few basic commands like sit etc and is good in the kennel. Needs to go to a loving home that will provide her with plenty of exercise and the attention she deserves. I’m located near Dunedin . If you’re interested or know anyone that would be ,please flick me a PM . Cheers ..read more

So a mate of mine has been granted access to a private block that next to a much larger public area. He has invited me to go for a recce but is concerned that the scent of my dog will push the Stags out of the area. Now I know deer don't particularly like dogs but I would have thought they like us less. So I can't see what difference it makes bringing my dog with us for a walk before the roar. He says that when he used to pig hunt an area with dogs, when they went back all the deer had moved out. I suspect that could be due to the different way pig dogs and indicating dogs are used. Curious ..read more

Six gorgeous pups available for hunting / family homes. Born 4 December 2023. See TradeMe Listing #4515350320 The dam (Scout) is a wire-haired pointer that we believe is of the Griffin strain. She came to us at nine months old from Gore. Dam has predominantly hunted pheasants and of recent times been introduced to deer hunting. Has not done a lot of duck hunting but we’re happy with her performance. She is a great family dog, loyal and calm temperament. The sire (Herman) is a wire-haired pointer from Jim’s Bunny Hunters, see: https://www.facebook.com/jimsbunnyhunters/ Both are genuine fiel ..read more

Any recommendations as to effective brands of remotely activated electric collars ..... seem to be plenty of potentially rubbishy options, but want something that will work. Got a Lab bitch that has developed distasteful (to us) table manners, and eats her own crap ..read more
