Latest updates on vaping and on illegal THC illnesses in U.S.

This week has been fairly quiet on news, but it's mainly unchanged from last week.  The confirmed culprit is still vitamin E acetate (which we pretty much knew since back in September), and nothing bad found in any nicotine-based eliquid samples.  As you may or may not yet know, the U.S. epidemic has spawned a new set of problems for us here in Canada.  Anti-vaping lobbyists have used this situation to go to war against the vaping industry.  8 large health organizations (Action on Smoking and Health, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Medical Association, Canadian Lung Assoc ..read more

Thank you once again for checking in to see the latest updates on the illicit THC-related illnesses in the United States.  Since the news is mainly the same as last week (still points to THC, a few more cases reported down there, nothing up in Canada) we'll keep this one brief.  Key points are: "EVALI" cases still very likely have nothing to do with nicotine products The data still points to illicit adulterated THC/CBD cartridges Still only really happening in the United States UK still repeats their stance that vaping nicotine products are at least 95% safer and are not related to ..read more

Changes for 2023
Theravape Blog

As we inch closer to 2023, there is one big change coming, with several consequent changes to be aware of. Of course, the big elephant in the room is the new federal vaping excise tax. We are federally licensed to manufacture vaping products under the new excise regime, which will allow us to continue making your favourite Theravape e-liquids and we are ready to have our stamps in place at the turn of the new year, when all e-liquids, e-liquid containing pods, and disposable vapes will be legally required to be stamped. Of course, this means more cost, but thankfully, it's still cheaper than c ..read more

Please note that with the new vape tax, any ejuice, pods, disposable vapes, or other vape products containing ejuice manufactured after October 1, will be subject to the new federal vaping excise tax across Canada. Existing stock that was produced before October 1 can still be sold until January 1 without this new tax being applied. We have stocked up to get us by until January 1 as best we can, but as we approach this date, you will see more products transition over to ones with excise tax stamps applied to them. Trust us when we say we are as frustrated as anyone else about this ta ..read more

Good afternoon and thank you for allowing us to continue keeping you informed on the recent outbreak of pulmonary illness in the United States. Before we get to the news, please know that due to unfounded knee-jerk reactions to the situation in the States, British Columbia (on to 2nd reading), Alberta, and Nova Scotia are looking at revising their vape regulations and considering flavour bans due to pressure from health organizations.  If you live in these three provinces (or anywhere in Canada, really), please be sure to let your MLAs and health ministers know that eliquid flav ..read more

Nicotine Limit Coming
Theravape Blog

The day appears to be set for July 23, but it looks like the 20mg/mL cap is now official. This means that any eliquids or pods above 20mg/mL will no longer be legal for sale after July 23, 2021. Please consider stocking up to get by, but as we've been advising our in-store customers for the past few months, do your best to step down to 20mg/mL as soon as you can.  How can you reduce your nicotine level this quickly? It may be tough, but we have a few suggestions for people that find it difficult to transition down this quickly. We hope you find it useful: You can use 20mg/mL with a ..read more

New Canadian Child Resistant Requirements

As you may or may not know, tanks and pods are required to be CRC (certified child resistant) this year, due to new regulations, but manufacturers are still working on getting these products to market.  COVID-19 made certification testing impossible for several months in 2020, which caused production delays but these products are finally starting to trickle into the market.  As they become available, we'll be switching over to ensure all of our products are compliant.  Thankfully, with COVID-19 also came difficulties in enforcement, so Health Canada gave a notice to industry tha ..read more

Updates on Respiratory Illnesses in United States

This week, Canadian vaping advocates pressed Dr. Chris Mackie of the Middlesex London Health Unit to release vital product information that the patient was using.  After a week of refusal, he finally publicly released information that the product was purchased online from the United States and that the diagnosis was lipoid pneumonia, which traditional eliquids cannot cause due to the absence of fats/oils in these products.  Once again, this points to illicit THC carts from the United States, clearing up the confusion that ignited mass hysteria in Canada.   The following new ..read more

We've added some new hardware at Theravape!  Choose from 3 different compact vapes to suit your individual vaping needs. Voopoo Drag X The Voopoo Drag X is a high power pod mod that features 80W power output and uses a single 18650 battery (not included).  We've tested this mod extensively and find the coils last long, but the best feature we've found with it is the flavour output.  It absolutely crushes other vape pod mods in this area.  Voopoo has raised the bar on pod mod flavour back to where the industry was at with previous high power tank based systems.   V ..read more
