This was a dream project. The other books I had written I had come up with a year before they were written at most, but this book is an idea I’ve had for years, even before I started writing. That may be surprising considering it was originally a spin-off, but more than that has changed from the original plot. I’ve changed Tommy’s name in my head so many times it’s not even funny. Okay, it may still be funny to me. Five things that stayed the same from my original idea. There were four main heroes, a boy with fire powers, a girl with ice powers, a girl with Superman-like powers, and an even mo ..read more

The Ones Who Sit at the Table ION “Ion, explain this to me, exactly how it is that the Savaage is better off after everything you’ve done.” I ignore the question, I look around the big, dark room. The lights have to be off for the holograms to work correctly, some of us can’t be here in person. I wish I wasn’t here, everyone else either doesn’t want to be here or just wants to complain and moan. I don’t much like complainers, at least not ones who complain out loud. I turn my head from the round table to check on Hundress standing besides me. I needed to bring someone to stand in my corner. It ..read more

The Name THE HOOD This is a strange sensation. My helmet isn’t on my head but it’s still covered. The eyeball that’s free to the world, it’s so crusty I can barely open it, the other… the other is gone. I don’t… there’s less weight, so either its gone or most of it is burned away… No, there was an explosion, something… something blew up in my face. When my remaining eye opens there’s this gross snap, a quiet one, but loud enough to make the weight on my arm stir. It takes seconds to realize that I’m in a hospital, even less to realize that someone managed to take off my armor and helmet. I won ..read more

“Fight me then, if you’re ready to die.” Kion Smoulder, the Aurora Knight of King Mightus, 448 A.C.A. The trip back to the Icy Pearl Isles should been days at best, but when you have a Stormguard of the Wind powering your sales, you can reduce days to hours.  Hours were still too long.  Astrid had flown ahead of them, Malum too, but that didn’t do much to quell Andy’s nerves. She had never been one for nail biting but without alcohol on hand, and the scratching touch of smoke in the back of her throat, there was little else to do. Jack put all he had from his Iligsia into the sails ..read more

The Wolf Pack THE HOOD “Why so scared? You won, didn’t you?” Ion asks us this question like it should be rhetorical. As he and Hundress float down towards us, he taps his finger where his lips should be and it doesn’t seem so rhetorical. We all move and power up, ready to fight, with Marie and Tommy to their feet, encompassing themselves in their elements. Claire readies her blade and Ken powers up his arm. I pull out my guns, and Emily moves in front of us, level with the monster at our door. As he floats on his disk above us, Emily floats with her feet off the ground, ready to defend us. Ion ..read more

Written by: Peach Momoko Art by: Peach Momoko Script Adaptation: Zack Davisson Lettering by: VC’s Travis Lanham Editing by: Michelle Marchese, Wil Moss, C.B. Cebulski Sure, we were all excited for Ultimate Spider-Man, and the dawn of adult Peter Parker. A lot of people were interested to see how the new Ultimate Universe was going to change Black Panther and Wakanda. But truly, I think the most fascinating was Ultimate X-Men. When most of what we had to look at was the image of Peach Momoko’s art — a drawing of a cult fan-classic character, Armor — we had a lot to think about. I don’t think a ..read more

“You’d always think little of a journey if you jogged in place.” Astrid, 448 A.C.A. There was the smell of the ocean, and there was the scent of the water spraying all around you. As the aptly named Little Stinky trailed its wings just over the ocean’s surface, slicing through a few waves, Astrid basked in her senses in a way few ever would. She could taste the salt of the sea without drowning in it, let it filter through her nostrils without burning them, and feel the drops of water coat her face without leaving her drenched. She let loose her arms, raising them over her head and letting her ..read more

The Savaage ION THUD! PYOH! SMACK! THUD! CRASH! My little team bashes him around the room, the five of them ganging up on the mortal vigilante. It really does tug at my heartstrings. “Ion,” my Hundress calls for me, “are you going to participate?” She stands beside me, the cyborg that’s grown more machine than woman. She wants me to join in, risk my life, as if a gun-toting psycho could fell me. No reason to not answer her honestly with a little twaddle of my hand, “No, I’m going to let all the kiddies have their fun.” Admittedly, to anyone with higher expectations for the so-called supervilla ..read more

“You can’t tell the truth and hide from it.” Lucilla Indu Nero, 448 A.C.A. Whip. My flight is done. Malum’s wings gently set upon the ground inside the forest, right at it’s edge. The forest rested next to the beach, and rose high enough to hide his quick descent and silent landing. As he stepped out from the shade, Little Stinky was making a far less silent landing. The griffin came down into a running stop, making his passengers bounce on his back.  Andy and Jack both fell off and tumbled across the sands. Astrid pulled back on the griffin’s neck knot. She handled the beast like she had ..read more

The Demons THE DIRECTOR This is going to go down as one of the smartest ideas I’ve ever had, or one of the dumbest. I can say for sure that it’s one of the craziest though. It definitely feels like it since I’m walking into the wolf den so to speak, or demon den to be more accurate. Walking down the aisle alone without the rest of the team is nerve-wracking. I know that everyone is waiting for their cue, but it doesn’t make it feel any better. It doesn’t take too long to see what Burke was worried about either. The girl called Sarem is some kind of powerful sorceress or warlock, easily rivalin ..read more
