Time has finally caught up with a shoe that tried to outrun it. The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 is finally the it shoe after three releases across twelve years. When first released in 2011, the Vomero+ 5 was both ahead of its time and behind the times at the same, well, time.
The Nike Vomero lineup was, and continues to be meant for running. They’re up to the Vomero 17 now, with Nike pushing out new models as fast and furious as the Fast & Furious franchise makes movies. And just like Fast & Furious, it’s number 5 that’s the clear standout (Fast 5 also came out in 201 ..read more

Around 30 years ago, the most 90’s scene imaginable happened. Saturday Night Live, starring Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, and Chris Farley, was hosted by Helen Hunt.
That’s 90’s enough already, but it gets 90’s-er.
A 22-year old Snoop Doggy Dogg was the musical guest (back when he used his full name).
Ok, that’s almost 90’s enough.
Snoop took the stage wearing a red, white, and blue Tommy Hilfiger rugby shirt.
There it is. Peak 90’s. *chef’s kiss*
Now, wait a minute! You say. Didn’t I like, just see GloRilla wearing that same shirt?!
Good eye, and thanks for the segue.
Tommy Hilfiger’s fits were ..read more

When the New Balance 610 first released back in 2012, the model went by completely unnoticed by most as it was geared towards hiking. A decade later, when the shoe was rereleased for its 10-year anniversary, something seemed... different.
Taking a slightly different approach, while the shoe still featured the trail-ready design, it was the colours and materials that made it feel a lot more street-ready instead. This time time around, the 610 was scratching an itch we didn't know we had, and while the sneaker originally debuted in 2012, we couldn't help be notice the Y2K influence that radiate ..read more

If you type in “Why do people hate J-” into Google, it might autocomplete it with “-ordan 1 mids.” Right up there with Jar Jar Binks and Jury duty, Jordan 1 mids get a lot of hate.
At first glance, AJ1 mids look just like the highs. Let’s be real, unlike with the lows you’d need a ruler to check the actual height difference between the mids and the highs. But for sneakerheads, mids are the sneakers you get when your mom says “we have highs at home.”
The hate seems to be caused by a few little things. First, mids are not highs. The highs are the OG Air Jordan 1 and wil ..read more

The Simpsons, Red Bull, Final Fantasy, and the Nike Air Max 1; 1987 was a good year to start a legacy. Like those other enduring cultural hits, the Nike Air Max 1 (AM1) showed up and changed everything. The difference between Nike AM1 and every other sneaker ever was one you had to see to believe, or maybe not seeing was the point.
The AM1 was the first sneaker to show you it was full of air. The air cushioning in the sole was visible from the side. What had been a functional feature saw the light of being a design feature. Those visible bubbles might now seem ubiquitous and perhaps pass ..read more

No sport has had a bigger influence on the sneaker and streetwear industry as basketball. The Air Jordan 1 showed the world was a pro-level basketball shoe would look like when co-signed by a professional level athlete, while the Nike Dunk was targeted more towards the collegiate-level basketball teams. And in between the two? Stood the Nike Terminator High.
First released as a special edition shoe back in 1985, the release of the Terminators was a first in the world of sports and sneakers. Designed exclusively for the Georgetown Hoyas, a team ..read more

In 1982, New Balance would debut a shoe that would pave the way for a slew of future releases, as well as produce some of their most legendary sneakers to date. The 990’s conception began 4 years prior to its release, with the intention being to produce the best possible running shoe they could. With that goal in mind, the sneaker featured a $100 price tag, solidifying it as one of the most expensive pairs of shoes available at the time.
With uncertainty about how the shoe would perform on the market due to its steep cost, New Balance would be pleasantly surprised to see the effects tha ..read more

It’s 1985. Michael J. Fox is Marty McFly in the original Back to the Future on the big screen, wearing Nike Bruins while blowing up the box office. This should be a big deal for Nike, but by orders of magnitude, it is not the biggest moment for Nike sneakers this year.
1985 saw the launch of the Air Jordan 1 (along with MJ’s basketball career), and the launch of the Nike Dunk. Now, if you name a basketball sneaker the “Dunk,” it has a lot to live up to. With Jordan as their NBA bet, Nike focused its marketing machine on college ball for the Dunk. They became the official s ..read more

The 1980’s birthed some of the great cultural and sports moments in human history.
It gave us movies like The Breakfast Club and songs like by Rapper’s Delight by Sugar Hill Gang.
In basketball, Magic Johnson was considered the greatest player, the Lakers-Celtics rivalry was alive as ever, and the greatest of all time, Michael Jordan stepped into the world stage and was in the infancy of his superstardom.
