Runs fine until it doesn't

I've been reading quite a few posts about folks that have had a similar issue as to what I'm experiencing. The old thing starts and idles just fine. Can ride for 1/2 mile or so and it bogs down and dies. Let it set for 15-20 minutes and it fires right back up and runs again for a short burst and is dead again. Have ruled out tank venting as the culprit. People point to a dirty carb, just not certain why that's the cause after it runs for awhile ..read more

Hey guys, This is probably a stupid question, but I restored my 71 nordic a couple years back and was wondering if there is a certain adjustment for the spring on the secondary clutch? Do you just put it on and away you go? It seems like I should turn it to tighten up the spring , then put the key in? TYIA ..read more

CDI only fires once per revolution

I have a ca. 1986 TB340A-C202 and each cylinder's plug is gold colored (good mixture/ temp). The problem is both cylinders won't run the same time because the CDI/ ignition coil is firing both plugs the same time at ONCE per revolution. If both plugs are hooked up, the default is the forward one will fire and the rear one won't. Top RPM is the same, 4,700 RPM, if the rear plug is hooked up or not. If I run the rear cylinder, max RPM is 3,900. Why is the ignition coil only firing ONCE per... CDI only fires once per revolution ..read more

Are the 1995 Jag and 1995 Cougar good sleds? I've been looking into getting some more sleds and I saw these two for sale. Wondering if these would be worth it. I pretty much only go on trails and am looking for a good trail sled from the mid to late 90s ..read more

what do I need to do to convert a 98 mach 1 triple over to a 99 with rer I changed out the engine harness and the cdi box and then found that my stator would plug in to the harness my stator has a 4 pin plug and the new harness has 6 pins so I guess I must have to have 2 trigger pickup's? I bought a new stator that has the trigger as part of the stator which goes to the 6 pin connector I think I am suppoesed to have 2? any thoughts ..read more
