Here we are with another list that will infuriate gatekeeping metal heads who are under the impression metal musicians are not allowed to listen to anything other than metal. This time around we’re focusing on the tracks that have been kicking my ass into gear with Spring rearing its ugly head around the corner. While the weather is still as cold as my black little heart, the vibes are certainly starting to change along with the scenery outside. What better time to dive into some new music! Nile Lashed To the Slave Stick A proper death metal track that checks all the boxes when you’re seeking ..read more

As if the world didn’t have enough to scare the skeleton out of your skin, we can always thank horror movies for the excess nightmare fuel to keep our anxiety levels through the roof. It’s no secret that being a fan of these films means there is a part of you that enjoys the fear, but what happens when that fear cuts too deep? Well, many of those beloved characters from the horror world tend to creep their way into our dreams. Not in a fun or charismatic Freddy kind of way either. Think more along the lines of waking up in a cold sweat whilst trying to decipher your own existence in the real w ..read more

Impregnate a thrash song with Peter Steele style vocals & keyboard arrangements that echo the darker side of Danny Elfman, & you’ll give birth to the new single “Faith In Cycles” from one man metal band Autumns Eyes. The track kicks off an energetic start to the new year with a new album “Grimoire of Oak & Shadow” just on the horizon for the New England based musician. Last October gave us a first taste of the bands new material with the somber yet catchy song “Follow the Embers” that also featured a fiery music video showcasing the beauty of New Englands back woods. With tempos pi ..read more

Some of the most important lessons learned in life happen when our faces are pushed into the dirt whilst our mind feeds on every abhorrent thought available. I was set to release another round of media to quench the thirst of rabid fans awaiting more music, and whilst I do intend to do so this month, the wheels of this chaotic cruise almost spun out of control. I ran into a nightmare scenario where a plague like infection spread from the bowels of hell into our homestead courtesy of a tiny demonic treasure we refer to as “our son“. His snot spread from whatever bacteria pit they harvest in his ..read more

So the spooky season is here again, and as with many holidays steeped in tradition, nostalgia is a drug we all love to share. Not only was I fortunate to grow up in a house surrounded by creepy wooded scenes straight out of a Tim Burton movie, but I was also lucky enough to have a family who was just as bat-shit-crazy for all things horrific as I was. As the hallowed day approached, my father was always in charge of the outdoor decor. I can still picture him knee deep in brush cutting down old branches from the back yard, which he would then attach to the front entrance of the house for an ele ..read more

AUTUMNS EYES, the gothic metal one-man outfit helmed by Daniel Mitchell, is pleased to share the first offering from the band’s upcoming studio album. The new song, “Follow the Embers”, is accompanied by a music video and comes off the new full-length, ‘Grimoire of Oak & Shadow’, which will be released in January 2024. Commenting on “Follow the Embers”, Mitchell shares: “We are only as good as what we surround oursel ..read more

Time to hop on the old broom, dose up on pumpkin spice, and cruise to some creepy tunes courtesy of yet another spooky season that has FALLen upon us. All horrible jokes aside, this is such a beautiful time of year where the whole world seemingly sheds their skin to embrace all things hallowed and horrific. I could not be more at peace, so to celebrate, let’s dive right into a few classics that always make their way into my playlist this time of year! Cradle of Filth Necromantic Fantasies While I will admit I haven’t been the biggest fan of their later material, Cradle has lured me back in wit ..read more

Heavy Horror Reviews: Talk to Me

Seeing this trailer a few weeks ago set the stage for my curiously creepy craving to find new and exciting horror movies to watch this Fall. While it didn’t disappoint, it didn’t break any new ground either. The plot was fresh, but predictable. Without spoiling anything, you basically follow a few young people who are bored with standard party tricks, and look to a possessed hand that gives them an undead high. There was a moment of much appreciated plausibility when it came to how gullible these young people were to conjure spirits without hesitation. It reminded me of my own experiences with ..read more
