So often when I get an idea about hunting something I tend to dive in head first. I did this a couple years ago when I thought I would like to go goose hunting, I got a decent deal on a couple of used layout blinds and about 20 decoys, but I haven’t used them because really don’t know how to proceed. I’m wondering if anyone is willing to show an older guy the ropes, I can bring said supplies including a layout blind ..read more

Just back from a week of bird hunting . Lots and lots of Blue Bills. More than last year. Teal still here, Northern Greeners arriving daily, Geese seem to be concentrating on good feed fields, seems to be a good number of snows around . Upland birds no noticeable numbers. If weather holds best to come ..read more

Hey, looking for some good waterfowl spots in the southeast, I would love to make a friendly relationship and see if maybe I could get some access to land, and it would only be me and one guy. Very responsible hunters and very kind, if anyone has any ideas or wants to meet to talk about hunting that would be great, around Steinbach area thx ..read more

Good afternoon new member here. I’ve been doing a lot of research and can only find mentored gamebird hunts for youth. It also seems very hard to crack or join a group of hunters. Not looking for secret spots, I can find my own later just would like someone to take myself and my 17-year-old son under their wing and show us the ropes for Upland or geese/ducks. Everything from safety to identifying to cleaning. We have both have our Pal and our hunter safety. We also have an untrained... Mentor hunt ..read more

I recall 20 plus years ago all the snow geese that were in SW Manitoba. Around the Baldur, Ninette, Glenboro Killarney areas they were plentiful. Believe the small town of Dunrea still has a snow goose monument. You just dont see many in that area anymore. Plan on heading out for a Reconnaissance/Scouting in next couple weeks just to see whats out there this spring. Always see lots of wildlife for sure ..read more

I have 4 old duck decoys that were bought at an auction sale near Oak Lake 30 + years ago. I am wondering if they were connected to the Oak Lake Hunting Lodge and any info on who made them, when they were made, what value they might have, etc. Two of them have a stamp on the bottom that looks like G Mc, and the other 2 have a carved letter J on the bottom. I am wondering if they are possibly John Wells decoys who made decoys for the Oak Lake Hunting Lodge. From a Google search his decoys... Duck decoys history Oak Lake Hunting Lodge ..read more

Even in oak hammock area I had not found birds As result of no geese and hard to access roads did not hunt this spring. A bit let down considering season was extended ..read more

I waterfowl hunt mainly on property I have in SW MB. During deer season something had dug a few fresh monstrous holes! At first thought coyote digging rodents etc but tracks proved otherwise then I saw 2 huge fat racoons! A fair number of waterfowl nest around my marsh and I was thinking these raccoons will likely get a lot of these nests? I know geese are good at protecting nests but at some pointI think these ***** will get a lot of the waterfowl eggs, including grouse and other... Raccoons/Waterfowl eggs ..read more
