Objects As Art
LVZ Design Blog

Art is something that feeds our souls-whether we create it, admire it, or remember it. Art is therefore also a very personal thing. For some people it is an obligatory decorating item and they will happily leave it to us as designers to find something of the right size and within their budget to fill the identified space. For others it is an extremely important aspect in the design and they would often have us start the whole process based on a single piece of art, or change direction completely to accommodate a piece they found and fell in love with. This brings me to the theme of this post ..read more

Wabi-Sabi, a captivating Japanese concept, has made its mark in the world of interior design. Rooted in the appreciation of imperfection and the beauty of transience, Wabi-Sabi offers a refreshing departure from the pursuit of flawlessness. Instead, it embraces simplicity, natural materials, and the passage of time, creating spaces that are authentic, serene, and deeply connected to the natural world. They often say that you can find your design style by looking at your fashion style. I would like to think it also works the other way around. At least that was my approach for our most recent trip. After listening to all the latest horror travel stories, we decided on carry-on luggage only for our two week trip to Italy and Switzerland. My capsule wardrobe had to include lounge wear, comfortable shoes and a few nicer outfits for eating out as well as a concert or two. I decided to look at my favourite images from past design projects and take my palette cues from there. Below is what I came ..read more

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to travel to italy. In February of this year I got the opportunity to do just that. Being slightly deprived of travelling these past few years, it was especially exciting. Apart from great food and wine, the thing that struck me most was the beautiful architecture with amazing stone and tile work. The detailed work found in floors as well as ceilings were mindblowing and inspiring, to say the least. If you are planning a renovation or bathroom remodel or building your dream home soon, keep reading for beautiful inspiration. We started our journey in Nice, F ..read more

A lot of what we see forecasted for 2022 are iterations of the previous two years. I think this just means that with so much uncertainty around us, we are not ready for big leaps right now. Not necessarily a bad thing ..read more
