Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and hope to get some advice on an Alpine I am interested in purchasing. It’s a 61 with 84k miles on it. Runs pretty well but after a short test drive there was oil all over the engine on the right side - opposite the carbs. Shop told me it’s all taken care of after a few hours which seems a bit suspect. I plan on doing another test run to get the oil pressure up and see if it leaks. This is not a British car shop so unless it was just some loose bolts I don’t know how they fixed it so fast. Appreciate any guidance into what I should check. Or should I ju ..read more

I have a friend who has an Alpine with an automatic gearbox. I did some research to learn that Sunbeam installed a Borg-Warner 35 in some of the Alpines. I searched this site and all I can find is that they are "rare". Does anyone have any production numbers for Alpines with the BW35? I know that "rare" and "valuable" are two different things. This friend is curious as to how many were built ..read more

Thanks, Dan for posting your photos. I took several dozen pictures too for the BCCC newsletter and TEAE, but here are some that will show the incredible cars in attendance. It was good to see you, Eric, and Dave again. You left before the awards were given. My Alpine took 1st, and the black Tiger, owned by Dave Romanick and driven by his son, Kyle, took 2nd. My next show is Hilton Head on the 3rd-5th of November. Hope to see you again before the end of the year. Rich ..read more
