The book was written by Richard Hatcher, III who will be known to many members of th RT and has been reviewed by Richard O'Sullivan. Richard O'Sullivan is a former member of the Round Table and has made presentations to the RT in the past and is the author of The 55th Virginia Volunteers, part of the Virginia Regimental history series. ON GREAT FIELDS by Ronald C White

Book Review by Colin E Wilks This is a very rare American Civil War biography, one that concentrates on the subject and his immediate surroundings rather than fitting that person in to a general history. It is not often that I can say I had great difficulty in putting a book down and was genuinely sorry when I reached the end, but this is such a case.   If you are looking for a biography of Chamberlain the soldier complete with complex troop movements and battle details then this is not the book for you. The book is in three main sections, Chamberlain before, during and after the America ..read more

Book Review by Dave Bradley Every now and then a book absolutely cries out to be bought, read and reviewed. This is such a book. I was actually on a tour of the south-west USA. Not a civil war tour but a tour of lawmen, outlaws gunmen and Indians. We were in the town of Willcox, Arizona and visited the local museum.  Our guide had told us that the town had been named after ACW general Orlando B Willcox. On entering the Chiricuahua Regional Museum I saw the book and had no choice but to buy it. In the introduction to the book Robert Scott explains how he had previously edited a book of le ..read more

For more years than I can remember we have been trying to bring the story of Britain and the US Civil War to a wider readership. Crossfire, and latterly Vedette, certainly have led the way for our researchers, and we have also supported our growing number of published authors. I have no hesitation in saying that we can hold our own on this side of the pond. We can now announce that we have been approached by Chris Mackowski and the ECW in conjunction with Savas Beattie to compile a series of stories of Britain and her complicated role during that time. They approached us so they think there is ..read more

Such a Clash of Arms: The Maryland Campaign, September 1862 by Kevin R Pawlak

BOOK REVIEW by Phil Andrade This is a weighty book, not in the literal sense, since being barely more than 120 pages long it is easy to carry, and to read, too. The style and lay out are such as to convey the history of this dramatic and controversial campaign in a concise and effective manner. Kevin Pawlak succeeds in providing disciplined and informative narrative history. This is what the Casemate Illustrated series purports to do, and here the task is fulfilled. The first significant feature of the book conforms by offering a straightforward and essential timeline, showing the sequence of ..read more
