Hello everybody! I want to ask about a pop up as"Overset connectivity information is only written to case files in HDF format. It is recommended that you write overset cases in HDF format." I don't know what means and how it well affect my results.By the way,the Fluent version I use is 19.2 ..read more

Displacement convergence in System Coupling

Hi everyone, I am running a two-way Fluent-Mechanical simulation of a plate(100x3x200mm; xyz) immersed in a tank (300x500x300mm; xyz) filled with a liquid and a gas using VOF method. The tank is subject to the force of gravity. I am having a hard time in reaching the convergence of the displacement on the Coupling Interface, the plate, (see screenshot below) which means endless simulations. Actually I would like to understand better what I am dealing with. The convergence is related to the RMS change, which basically is telling me how much the variable is changing between two iterations. Why ..read more

Icepak Pressure Drop and Fan Operating Point

Good Day, I was wondering if there were any icepak user here that could help. Is it possible (and how do you do it) to give the pressure drop of a system (An electronics enclosure containing a heatsink, heat sources, grill inlet and exhaust fan for example), and also to give the operating point on the fan curve? Many thanks Rusty ..read more

Negative volume mesh detected in Dynamic Mesh

Hi everyone, I am running a two-way Fluent-Mechanical simulation of a shelf (100x3x200mm; xyz) immersed in a tank (300x500x300mm; xyz) filled with a liquid and a gas using VOF method. The tank is subject to the force of gravity and a harmonic force acting along the x-axis with a frequency f=2Hz. Since I wanted the liquid to be initialized with an angle of 10° I have created a region register with cylinder shape with the coordinates shown below. The other settings are shown below as well. When I launch the analysis it stops at a certain time step for "Negative cell volume detected". I have tri ..read more

I want to perform a 3D model of concrete frame exposed to fire and compare results with test of the same frame in furnace My questions are: 1. Use transient thermal or steady state thermal? 2. Applying of temperature with constant value i.e. 100 °C or apply time temperature curve such as iso 834 curve or Eurocode curve? 3.How can i find the element type solid 70 in ansys ..read more

Design Point Table giving identical results for Outputs

I am creating a CFD simulation with parameterized geometry. The following problem arose: If I change individual design points manually, the simulation runs smoothly and Post outputs the corresponding values. If I load several design points into the DP table and update them all, Ansys delivers the same result for the output parameters for each individual geometry. Even the previously manually calculated points no longer give the same result as before. It seems that the solution of the first design point is applied to all design points. Has anyone already had this problem and knows a solution ..read more

Is the Cyclic Symmetry Boundary Condition Possible for 2D Models?

Hi all, Attached is a photo of the geometry in-question. It is a 2D-cross section of a rocket engine, with a singular "pie" slice chosen for analysis out of some 90 slices (The pink is representative of what the entire cross section should look like). To set-up the structural boundary conditions, I wanted to emulate the missing "pie" slices by setting up the cyclic boundary conditions; however, the solver keeps arriving at "under constrained / contact-related issues". When done with frictionless supports on both sides, the model is able to be solved. I just want to know why the cyclic symmetr ..read more
