Let's assume that I have 50 rows of elements in cone from the basement to the top. And so I need to do rbe contact between each row of elements, but I don't want to repeat the operation every time. Is there any opportunity to duplicate rbe and tie it with corresponding nodes ..read more

I'm studying welding-induced residual stresses for curved steel plates.
So, I need to use the INISTATE code taking initial stresses. This is the picture that I want to analyze.
I divided a curved plate into 4 for taking different initial stresses.
And, I used function-based inistate codes. (Mat 2&3)'s stress function : y=0.533x - 128.524 & y=-0.533x - 128.524
[These are symmetric about x=0]
So, I wrote the inistate code like that. (INISTATE code is based on element coordinate system. In the element coordinate system, the x-axis and y-axis directions are swapped. As a result, the resi ..read more

I am starting to learn ANSYS for fluids and I would like to ask your opinion on what the optimal order of studying ANSYS tutorials is, among the following courses: "Basics of Fluid Dynamics", "Real Viscous Flows", "Fundamentals of Compressible Flows", "Heat Transfer in Fluids", "continuum physics", "introduction to finite element methods". Which one should precede what in terms of pre-requisite ..read more

Despite several similar questions and my efforts, there is still no solution so far.
Presently, ANSYS gives Directions to Lines on its own which are flipped even for two collinear lines. As a results Beam sections are flipped at KPs.
Tried using Section orientation through Keypoints but since Line normals are flipped this does not solve my problem.
I require uniform assignment of direction based on a particular WP.
Please help ..read more

In Preprocessor of APDL, I have built areas which are meshed with shell element and lines meshed with beam elements.
I have assigned Sections to Beam elements but when I view them their cross sections are flipped due to Line normals flipping.
I want all lines to become aligned to that specific Coord. And I don't want to manually pick the lines.
LDIR is not working for me as it reverses all the lines together leaving the issue as it is ..read more

I have a concrete girder box bridge that is 40 m long and 4 meters wide, and I would like to simulate the response of the bridge using Ansys random vibration for pedestrian traffic. What are reasonable PSD Acceleration values to use (please justify) and where should I apply these random vibrations? You can assume there are 10 people uniformly distributed along the bridge ..read more

I am using beam elements to mesh lines with "pre-meshed" shell areas. Problem is that the ANSYS sets Line Direction vectors on its own.
This results in Cross sections assignment flipped from line to line.
For instance, all lines in X-direction have their respective line vectors flipped to arbitrary direction at line junction.
I want to align all selected lines along X-axis to be aligned in same direction, say, positive X axis
Thanks ..read more

I came across this video on YouTube, and would like to know more about the mesh, such as the internal structure.
Is there a reason to do it that way?
Am i correct in saying there is an o-grid around the cylinder?
