I love taking family videos so I took some footage of his first squirrel. Got him to practice with a .177 Gamo Varmint, he was nervous but got it on the first try! Proud dad moment submitted by /u/MaterialWelder1001 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I really need to include the Gun in the next picture. It’s a 2240 turned into a carbine. It’s been pretty handy for pest control and small game. submitted by /u/Brave_Alfalfa321 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What's everyone's preference for squirrels hunting? I've carried both shotgun and rifle and I see the advantages in both. Anyone diehard one of the other? submitted by /u/PomegranateBroad5595 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’ve hunted since I was 12. Just over a decade. Which to be fair, isn’t long. But no matter how small or large the game I’m hunting is, after a kill I can not keep from shaking and breathing sporadically and shallow. I also feel a measure of remorse.(especially when doing pest control on a species I can’t eat, ground squirrels etc.) Of course that’s natural and I’m glad I haven’t lost my respect for life. The only problem is that it has more than once hindred my ability to make several kills in short succession. This morning I was trying to help a buddy with a pest problem, 15-20yrd shots wit ..read more

Just got into small game hunting (shot my first squirrel Tuesday) and cleaned him out immediately, got another one a day later, cleaned immediately. I went out today and shot a female fox squirrel and decided to toss it in my game bag after cutting its throat to bleed. Well 2 1/2 hours later and boy was she smelling sour! Already getting green on the abdomen! The innards were pretty rank and bloated too. I was surprised as the temp while I was out was 7-10 Fahrenheit. Maybe it’s because I wore my game bag on my abdomen and it was just too warm. Won’t make that mistake again. Turning this ..read more
