I have a beagle that has been trained to track deer. He finally got to do his first real track today, and was flawless. Need to get some more deer under his belt before selling his services. Anyone in Jackson county or Banks county give me a call if you need a dog. I stay very busy with work, but if I'm available, I'd love to help. Matt Keefe 706-410-3505 ..read more

RIP little friend!
Lost my 14yr 6mo old Treeing Fiest... COCO.
SUPERLATIVE squirrel dog till she got old, deaf, and half blind due to advanced age.
Even 2mos ago she helped track a doe I shot that ran but no blood trail.
Even yesterday early afternoon, she was “guarding” an Amazon package left on the front porch! Late afternoon, my wife discovered her unresponsive in her “kennel” in the house. She was already gone. She’d been on heart medicine for years. Had a heart murmur. Young vet said...

Anybody have experience using a black lab for tracking wounded deer. Fixing to get two puppies in about 4 weeks, they are 4 weeks old now...birthday gift from wife but she asked if we needed to get another from same litter to keep each other occupied when we are at work. I said why not....both are males.
Said to her would like to train one or both to trail a deer, would never use both at once if both had a skill for it.
I am not a duck hunter so would like to use them in another capacity...

To my knowledge, it's illegal to use dogs to hunt deer in Texas. But I was wondering whether any of y'all have ever just hunted with a dog in a stand with you? Just keeping you company?
To me, it would seem that it would be nice having the company of a pooch while you scope out whatever area you're hunting, and if you don't drop a deer in one shot and need to trail it, the dog may help. Does anyone have any experience with this or is it just a silly idea ..read more

Has anyone used the Garmin Alpha 200? Trying to decide if I want to go with the 200 or another 100. I have heard of some people not having any problems with the 200 and love them. Then I have heard of people losing signal or the unit dropping the collar during a hunt. Just trying to see what other peoples experience with them have been. Thanks ..read more

Ok so I know are plenty of choices of loads, but I am looking target placement, with say 00buck. I want to do some stalking this year with buckshot since it’ll be legal. I always seem to jump deer and can think of a time or two I may have taken a shot, had I been carrying a shotgun and buckshot. But am I wanting to puncture lungs, or break a neck and save meat? I’m typically going lungshot on a hog, what about the neck on a deer ..read more
