Mallorca is a stunning island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is not only known for its picturesque landscapes and turquoise beaches but also for its vibrant food and drink scene. During my week-long trip to Mallorca in September with one of my dearest friends, we had the opportunity to explore several different restaurants. As a traveller, I have a particular fondness for experiencing the local cuisine, so I actively sought out traditional restaurants in Mallorca. However, this proved to be quite challenging as the areas we stayed in were heavily geared towards tourism and offered a wide range o ..read more

Low calorie celeriac chips recipe
Food Star Blog

Nothing will ever beat potatoes and boy do I LOVE potatoes, but if you are trying to eat a more low calorie diet, then celeriac chips can almost come close to filling the hole that potatoes leave behind. You can still have satisfying meals like fish and chips, steak and chips or loaded fries, but still save a lot of calories. Even though it looks like something out of Harry Potter (mandrake anyone?), don't be put off because the celeriac is a root vegetable with only 18kcal per 100g (raw). This is a lot less calories than a potato which comes in at 77kcal per 100g. The flavour is very mild and ..read more

Amrit, St Albans - Indian Restaurant Review
Food Star Blog
by Jen Jones

Amrit is an Indian restaurant located at the top of the town center in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The location is known locally as "The Cricketers" after a pub that formally inhabited the building. After that, it was the ill-fated but popular Indian restaurant "Devdas" before being taken on by Amrit at the end of 2020. I went to Amrit with four other work colleagues on a Thursday evening. While we were deciding on what to order we requested some papadums for the table from our waiter Moj, who was friendly and attentive throughout. They were particularly nice papadums; fresh and light and with a ..read more

Experiencing Andalucía - A Food & Drink Journey

Over the past couple of days I did a city hopping trip through the region of Andalucía, Spain. My destinations were the cities of Málaga, Córdoba and Sevilla. While I know Andalusia has a lot more to offer, this was all I could fit into a basically five-day-trip. Blog By Glindalovesglitter I love Spain - what’s not to love about it? Traveling by yourself can be a bit scary at first. The one thing I had to get used to and which still feels a little weird at times is going to a restaurant by yourself. It’s something I know keeps many of my friends from traveling abroad alone, and it’s something ..read more

This weekend I went to Bonn, Germany with 8 of my nearest and dearest to attend Fedcon (a scifi convention). The weather was perfect, we made new friends and partied our nerdy butts off! In our downtime, we had the chance to visit some great restaurants and I happened to find THE BEST crispy duck I have ever had! I had fully intended to do a blog about "everything I ate during my trip to Bonn" but promptly forgot, but here are some highlights... Nan King nanking-bonn.de Nan King is a few doors away from the hotel we stayed at and my friends and I have been there a couple of times before when i ..read more
