i have a mighty mule 200 single gate opener and i'm curious if anyone has put a power supply on these in place of the battery? the wiring for the battery is 18ga. wire so it must not have much amp draw when in use. it might have a short amp draw during first startup but then my guess is drops off fast. it actually uses garage door button wire. anyway i'm getting tired of putting new lawn mower batteries on it and i have been using 2 stair lift batteries now in parallel but if i can just... mighty mule 200 single question ..read more

Hi guys, I need your help. Yesterday I noticed my electric door garage would not open. I checked the main GFCI in the garage using a Klein Tools GFCI tester and it read "30 Vac Open Grd Neu". Which I believe it means it is only pulling 30 volts and there is an open ground somewhere. Unfortunately, the reset button on the GFCI will not allow me to test it. It appears to be stuck. I believe this is a normal function if there is an open ground neutral wire. I performed the following steps... Garage GFCI shows 30 Vac Open Grd Neu ..read more

I decided to convert all of my home and shop / garage 4 foot florescent lamps to LED. Since several of the lighting fixtures are high off of the floor I wanted lamps that would last. I bought GE LED15ET8G4/840 type "A" lamps and was told they will work with my ballast now, they will not. ( yes the ballast was grounded ) The GE site to " find the correct ballast to use" is so convoluted I'm not sure which GE or replacement ballast type is required to purchase? The lamps are a type A and the... Please help with the correct ballast needed for LED lamps ..read more

I am adding a 60 AMP subpanel for a detached garage/workshop with a 200 foot underground conduit run from the main panel to the sub panel. Planning to use schedule 40 PVC. I have consulted with a local electrical inspector and determined that I should use 2 2 2 4 Aluminum THHN/THWN. However he recommends 3 inch conduit which is 3x the price of 2 inch, adding over $600 to the job. The rationale is that the pull will be easier. The run has two 45 degree bends underground. I am thinking 3 inch... Conduit sizing for 200 foot run to sub panel ..read more

Just moved into a house which has downlights everywhere. We are gradually swapping over to LED but have encountered one type of fitting which has everyone stumped as to how to remove the bulb, including an electrician friend! Having given up trying to twist/turn the bulb and its surround, we eventually took the whole thing out of the ceiling to have a closer look. I've attached photos, you can see two small grooves which implies some kind of tool is needed. But without that, the bulb is... G10 light fittings - help ..read more
