It's grown abundantly in an area that I have never added before. Can I expect it to flower and is it going to be very invasive ?

What do seasoned Medford gardeners say? This is only my second year here, but I gardened in the Willamette Valley in the past. Last year I only planted a few tomatoes, peppers & cucumbers in early May, and we had frost about 1 wk. after I planted them. Most of them made it. I live in town, SE Med ..read more

Hello there,
Looking for some guidance. Second year starting jalapeños inside and they turned out perfectly last year. This time…not so much.
Not sure if it is too much light, overwatering or what but they have been like this for weeks. Ive reduced light and changed watering but no real changes in the plants.
Im guessing these are too late to save but want to avoid the same mistake in the future. What is the likeliest cause of the stress?
Thank you ..read more

I've grown tomatoes this way for over 10 years and I don't think I've ever had this kind of problem before. So, I'm seeing dark brown on edges of leaves, and it dries out and the edges get crunchy. This seems to affect new growth as well. The tips and edges of leaves are drying out - I really hope it's not bacterial canker or something really bad. it doesn't appear to be that bad, I have seen some spots in the middle of the leaves, but it's really only affecting the edges and tips of...

I have planted regular potatoes, but never sweet potatoes.
I bought a bag of sweet potatoes to plant from Sams Club. Note: these are not the regular food sweet potatoes, these are just for planting.
So now I need to get them to sprout, and I am bit confused about the best way to do it.
BTW: I am not interested in slips. I have as many potatoes as I can plant, and I think it would be easier to just plant the whole potato. But, if I leave the potato outside, and above the soil, the...

Hi everyone, I've been trying my hand at the veggie gardening game for 2 years now, and while I've had some results, they've never been great. I've decided this year would be better, but I'm already off to a rough start. Short story is, I redid the raised beds this year (full info below), but soil is testing NPK depleted and pH 7.5. I have some self-seeded sunflowers that are so far doing well, and the direct sown peas, radishes, and carrots are doing okay, but I'm worried long term and...

I have not had good luck with tomato plants the past few years here in Southern California. I read a post on Pinterest that suggests tomatoes require (or at least do better) in acid soil.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I know that my soil is not acid, and wanted to hear others' experiences before I amend my soil.
Thanks for any input ..read more

The usual advice is to plant in their final position when first flowers show sign of opening. Yet if you look on the RHS web site the advice this is not mentioned at all. RHS says "Young, well-rooted tomato plants, either grown from seed or recently bought, can be planted into their final position in early summer, once temperatures are reliably above 16°C (60°F)".
I would like to follow this advice because it is more convenient - I am running out of growing on space! But most people seem to...
