Toilet Draining Issue

I have a relatively new toilet that has started getting clogged when there is nothing in it. Most of the time it works fine but sometimes it'll just have a few pieces of TP and some urine and when you go to flush it it clogs. I run an auger through it and it unclogs. Sometimes if you just wait the weight of the water will unclog it. I used an endoscope and couldn't see any obstruction. There isn't a chance that there would be toys / hygiene products in the toilet. So not sure what is going... Toilet Draining Issue ..read more

Tub Install & The Drain and Overflow Assembly

When setting a tub do you install the drain and overflow assembly on the tub first and then try to connect it to the trap or do you install the drain and overflow assembly and trap together and set the tub on top of it.............or does it matter. Just seems like fitting that last piece of pipe between the drain and overflow assembly and the trap might be difficult. Also how do you check the drain for leaks before setting the tub......just pour water down the trap... Tub Install & The Drain and Overflow Assembly ..read more

Will CPVC Work for Tub Spout

I had a friend install the piping for my tub / shower set up. He used all CPVC piping. The tub spout looked a little unstable to mount the (pretty heavy 2.85 lbs.) Moen S3896 tub spout on because an accident or any significant pressure like someone leaning on it could break it off the CPVC pipe. I asked about it but he said it would be fine. After a Google search on CPVC and tub spouts it appears that CPVC or PEX should not be used for the piping to the spout. What is the correct method to... Will CPVC Work for Tub Spout ..read more

I am starting a bathroom upgrade with an undermount to Corian sink. Looks straight forward enough but my question is this: What is the best choice for adhesive to mount the clips? Seems some type of epoxy is the item of choice but are there any pluses or minuses for the many choices? I'd prefer to not drill for screw type mounts ..read more

Shower install in back to wall bath

Hi I have recently moved into a property which the previous owner has installed a back to wall bath. I am looking to install a shower on the wall. The bath has a gap at both ends and I am concerned about water going down the side of the bath. The previous owner hasn't made the best job of the bath install and water splashing out of the bath gets through the ceiling downstairs. I guess a filler plate to fill the gap between the bath and wall maybe required(thinking of mounting the shower on... shower install in back to wall bath ..read more

Bathroom rap - repair or replace?

We have an upstairs toilet and the hot tap is loose, causing annoying loud vibrations through the pipework. It's worse when water runs elsewhere in the house (e.g. toilets flushed, shower used), but does it sometimes as well when nothing else is in use. It is also leaking inconsistently, allowing a steady trickle of water. Any ideas what this could be, or would it be simpler/easier/cheaper to just replace the tap(s)? I've never done anything plumbing-related, but I've been told replacing... Bathroom rap - repair or replace ..read more

Washing Machine Standpipe drain clog

I have a Washing Machine installed in the ground floor garage. Every once in 3-6 months the drain gets clogged. The water comes up the standpipe. The standpipe is between sheetrock and an outside wall, so I am not sure how the complete thing looks like. On the LHS of the standpipe is a cleanout. My undertanding of this arrangement is that the pipe with the cleanout is the air vent to the roof, with a pipe that leads to the outside drain. I cannot get any information from anyone on how the...
