Hello, I'm wondering wether I should buy a real bass guitar for my recordings or keep on using plugins such as EZbass. I'm very impressed by EZbass . When I program my midi carefully I get very realistic basslines. Do you think recording the real instrument is still worth the hassle ..read more

Hi, I'm producing a song for my friend who is a very talented singer. I'm helping him out as he has just started in music production. I'm not a good bass player but I used Ample P bass to make one verse of this song. Any bass player interested in playing bass on this track? Here's the link https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0MoZaojCyQtLUFMYzdjZkxUS1U The song is still in the production stage. Let me know if anyone's interested. Everyone has their favourites. Please avoid posting more than three if you are going to do youtube videos please try and do them in one post please? I am sure some will totally ignore this request Style is unimportant - every style has something great and great bassists in that style. I chose this one because being possibly one of the more senior members heading towards the 60 mark, not a lot impresses me any more. This young lady has the jazz/fusion "X" factor. She was 20 I... I have a niece who wants a Bass guitar for her birthday. My sister is okay with it, because she is sure this will only last a few months at the most (but hey who knows.) So I am not certain what to get her. I am not trying to pay more than what is necessary for what has a high probability of becoming a wall hanger or a door stop. I don't know much about what's good or not on the low end market. I still want the bass guitar to be somewhat playable and not make her quit by gifting an... Bass for teenage girl ..read more

Hey guys, A happy new to y'all. I wanted to find out from y'all the normal dbFS levels you see on your level meter of your daw when you finger pick an active jazz bass with the bass guitar volume cranked to max and pickup selector more towards the bridge. No fx inserted or in parallel. With new batteries of course. I get a -8 dB average dBFS. Is that a good level for an active bass? The interface I use is Behringer UM2 and the volume knob on it is cranked the... dBFS level of active jazz bass guitar ..read more

Im currently looking for a new 5 string bass to record modern metal music. Currently I've been thinking about Dingwalls but they seem quite expensive. Any other ideas what I could possibly pick? Obviously the pickup makes an insane difference from the sound examples that I heard so far ..read more

over on the guitar section @spyfx has asked for guitar players and bass players to help him. https://audiosex.pro/threads/to-all-guitar-bass-players-please-help.33977/ here's is my first attempt with a cheap Ibanez Gio Soundgear 4 string using the Fredman cab mic'ing technique with two 57s at extreme low amp volumes due to apartment living.
