Finally revisiting a fretless project

While I’m waiting for a few things in paint, I wanted to keep my hands busy… so I dig up this project I started a few years ago, before my cancer and subsequent treatment. about 12-13 years ago I made a bass that was basically a combo of a tele bass and an ampeg scroll bass. I really liked the aesthetics of it , and then wanted to refine it further….though I’ll probably build another one like the original in the future. Here’s the original “Tele-Scroll” bass I build all those years ago….... Finally revisiting a fretless project ..read more

Price Drop 2024 Clearance (Warwick, Roscoe, G&L, & Ibanez)

Doing another clearance of basses of my collection (around 20) to make room for a few upcoming purchases/builds. Looking to trade, but ideally would like to do a multi bass trade (possibly including other basses in the stable) towards an MTD, Ken Smith, Fodera, Serek, Sadowsky, or nice 5 string. I would add cash as necessary. May be interested in cash sales if a Trade or trade +/- cash doesn't manifest. I will update soon with sale pricing (which will be lower than trade value). **I am only... Price Drop 2024 Clearance (Warwick, Roscoe, G&L, & Ibanez ..read more

So I just got a USED in good condition Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass V HH - Satin Black - Sweetwater Exclusive off of guitarcenter.com for recording at home. I was just planning to mainly do simple recordings in Logic and possibly do covers on YouTube. Here's the basic setup I have to record, before I explain about my complaints about the audio quality I was getting after recording: The bass > 1/4" Hosa instrument cable > plugged into front of a Scarlett 4i4 audio interface preamp >... Adding a HX Stomp to my board and researching it needs 3A or so to power, and getting power can be tricky Currently use a One Spot Pro(one of the outputs doesn't work anymore) so needs replacing. I need to run a tone hammer, a keeley bassist, HX Stomp, polytune noir, sennheiser xsw wireless(12V), and would like at least an extra 9v output or two for future expansion. Also definitely want it to mount under board and not on top Any reccomendations ..read more

Poll: Scorpion VS Vintage Microtubes Deluxe

Which do you like better and why? Just want to know everyone’s preferences. I know that the “blend” vs “depth” knob will be one of the big differences. But that doesn’t matter so much to me as long as the Scorpion isn’t sucking low end. Also the scorpion seems to be less expensive… and I am curious why. I have a Lucydreamer which I love. But I am looking to add another flavor of OD to my board. Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts ..read more

OK, time for the new thread for the upcoming season. Congratulations to Texas and all that. But that was a while ago. I'm slacking. I'm optimistic about the Mariners' pitching staff, provided they don't get wiped out by injuries or bone headed GM moves. So far, the bone headed GM moves haven't been so bone headed these days. Some worked out, some didn't. What they really need is to make contact when they are up to bat. A couple of high average bats would make the Mariners formidable.... MLB 2024 ..read more

The Nobels ODR-1 circuit: A panegyric on an underrated drive!

View attachment 4973517 When a fellow Talkbass user recommended I should try the Wampler Belle, my first reaction was scepticism. The Belle is Wampler's take on the Nobels ODR-1. I knew that the ODR-1 has been in the guitar world for quite a while now and that it is "The Other Green Pedal" besides the Tube Screamer - but I never looked up if that means it is like a Tube Screamer or if it is largely different. I simply assumed that when a drive pedal that has been around for decades... The Nobels ODR-1 circuit: A panegyric on an underrated drive ..read more

Would you buy new 4 sting bass already slotted for BEAD if you had the option?

I have a couple of basses I have converted to bead tuning, but had to file the nut of course. I also know of one or 2 brands of strings that sell bead sets. But there are no basses that come this way. Would you like a 4 sting bass with the top 4 of the 5 strings per say? Curios, how many would switch if they could and would buy that over a new 5 string ..read more
