By Triada Stampas, President and CEO, Fulfill From almost the first day I met Kathy Goldman, I’ve said she is who I want to be when I grow up.  A trailblazer, a visionary, and one of the founding mothers of the anti-hunger movement in New York City, Kathy recently passed away at age of 92, after a lifetime advocating for people’s right to have the food they need to thrive. I had the privilege to work with and learn from Kathy during my 10 years at Food Bank For New York City, which she founded in 1983. Her food advocacy work had started 15 years prior, in the late 1960s, with a group of ..read more

The panicked phone calls started at the end of February. As the official notices of a significant reduction in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) allotments reached our neighbors, this new reality was sinking in. The decision to take food resources away from approximately 785,000 low-income New Jersey residents (and millions of others across the country) happened hundreds of miles away many months ago, when Congress decided – and the President approved – a provision in the federal budget bill that rescinded a pandemic-related increase in monthly SNAP benefits.  With a strok ..read more

This is the perfect time of year to stop, recognize and give thanks to the people and organizations who make our communities better places to live and raise our families. In my first year leading Fulfill, I have been overwhelmed by the efforts of our employees, donors, volunteers and partners. Today, though, I want to say more — a lot more — about our partners. Partners and partnerships make us all better. They bring attributes and experiences that complement ours. Together, we grow stronger and smarter as we make our part of the world a better place. Ending hunger is an all-in mission, and at ..read more
