Practice > Platform

If you won’t practice your faith in your every day life, then you shouldn’t be eager to share it from a platform. PRACTICE > PLATFORM If we desire to share from a platform more than we desire to love our neighbor, then what are we saying about ourselves? About our churches? About our God? Jesus, Himself, was willing to serve. (Phil 2:6-7) He didn’t walk the earth asking for others to do it. HE WAS THE PHYSICAL DEMONSTRATION. If we are to be like Christ, then shouldn’t we, too, be about the mission of serving others? Yes, give. Yes, build a house. Yes, sponsor a child. Yes, volunteer. But ..read more

The Heart Behind Women In Worship
Women In Worship Blog

I’ve asked myself many times: Why create something specifically for women worshipers? Why is it important? Is it needed? Will people want to be a part? Will it help others? Welcome to my internal dialogue!  Being in worship ministry for 20 plus years, I thought I might have some things to offer. Chances are, YOU DO TOO! So why don’t we put it all to use?  In 2004, I remember being a very young worship leader on a church staff thinking life and ministry were great, but I felt very alone. What was I missing? I can look back now and see exactly what I was missing: community and conversa ..read more

Our friend, Michelle Lutz, is a dynamic leader at Expression 58 in Los Angeles, CA. In this episode, we talk about things she’s learned through years of experience, how we have to stay faithful when we are 'unseen', and how she relies on time away with God to lead her through leading people to Him. She is an incredible example of authentically living & learning the Word - being ‘oily’ in a good way ;) We can’t wait for you to hear this one - grab some tissues ..read more

What to Do When You Can’t Mentor Everybody
Women In Worship Blog

I love working in ministry with all my heart. I feel like I was born for it. But one thing that hasn’t come naturally to me is guarding my time.  When I first started working at the church, a lot of the ladies that volunteered wanted to sing together one-on-one and get training.  Somehow the combination of being an extrovert, being almost completely right-brained, and having a love for teaching made good time management feel so unnatural to me at first. I just wanted to invest in our volunteers and not have to cut conversations short or turn people down. While I’m glad that care for ..read more

Seeing + Feeling Isn't Enough
Women In Worship Blog

What you see isn’t enough to validate it is God. What you feel isn’t enough to validate it is God. Human senses are not a substitute for God’s Word. It can be easy to let our senses or emotions dictate what God is doing. Do they play a part in discernment? Yes. Are they the absolute determining factor? No. Knowing God’s Word isn’t for the sake of knowledge —> It’s for the sake of knowing God. When we choose to identify God with our own personal senses or terms, He is no longer God - we are. Human senses are not a substitute for God’s Word. His Word is a lamp and light (Ps 119:105) for li ..read more

Flipping Tables on Holy Week
Women In Worship Blog

Jesus wasn’t flipping tables due to the lack of quality in the goods. He was flipping tables because religion had taken precedence over relationship. On Monday of Holy Week, Jesus flipped tables. How many times have you wanted to flip a table? … and how many times have you wanted to sit at the very tables Jesus would’ve flipped? Jesus wasn’t flipping tables due to the lack of quality in the goods. He was flipping tables because religion had taken precedence over relationship. What they were offering was so much less than God wanted to give. But the people had settled. Somewhere along the ..read more

A Season Of Lent
Women In Worship Blog
by Sarah Holstra
1y ago
During Advent, which is the time leading up to Christmas, we prepare our hearts by considering what it meant for God to send His Son into the world as a helpless human baby. We sing songs about peace, hope, and love, and look forward to the Christmas Day celebration of His arrival by birth to an unwed teenage mother.  Lent is a similar season, in that we are also preparing our hearts for a celebration of what God did through Jesus. However, in the season of Lent, we join in by thinking about our own sinfulness. We do this to try to better understand the sacrifice that we remember on Good ..read more
