The much-anticipated judgement in Hadley v Przybylo on the recoverability of solicitors’ costs in catastrophic injury claims has been hailed as a major development for personal injury law. The judgement related to whether costs incurred by solicitors for attending MDT meetings and liaising with case managers and other health and financial deputies during a personal injury claim were automatically recoverable. Personal injury lawyers respond to proposed rise in court fees

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) have raised concern over plans by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to increase fees at over 200 courts throughout the UK. The MoJ announced proposals to aise court fees in November 2023 to shift a greater financial burden onto users of the court system, which is predominantly subsidised by taxpayers. Up to 202 court and tribunal fees are set to rise by 10 percent from spring 2024, generating a potential £42 million for HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS).
