Is changing the tuning once in a while gonna affect the guitar?

if I tone down to Open C from standard, on a guitar with nylon strings, every couple of days and then return to standard tuning, would that have any considerable impact on the wood or guitar itself? I guess it can weaken the strings and I might need to change them more often, but would it damage the guitar? submitted by /u/eavesdroppingyou [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

To guitarists with big/weird hands: What's the most comfortable neck you've ever played and why?

Hello, I'm looking for new things to try and I was searching for nicest neck for my weird hands. I have big palms and short, stubby fingers and necks by many considered comfy are not working for me. Some time ago I've started to experiment with different radiuses and nut widths, but I couldn't really got hooked up by anything. Martins with 16'' radiuses were too flat for me (too bad I'm owning one), 15'' Taylors too. Furch have nice wide nuts, but their neck profiles are weird and I was left with impression they are nullifying any advantages coming from wider string spacing. Yamahas and Takam ..read more

Torn between Taylor and Cort

I've never owned a Taylor guitar, nor have I owned a Cort despite playing guitar all my life. I've saved up enough money to buy a new guitar. But I kinda don't want to buy something more than 1k USD because I'd probably be a bit anxious carrying it outside. Now I heard that the Cort OC series have an all-solid wood body, and it's roughly the same price as the BBT in my country (500 usd), but I'd prefer having pickups so BBTe would cost 700 usd. My only issue with the BBTe is that it has laminated back and sides, plus I heard it's sort of a beginner's guitar? That being said, I really want to ..read more

Why is the GS mini such an addictive guitar?

I have owned a lot of acoustics over the years including my most tenured guitar, a 2000 Taylor 714CE. But even though the 714 is a better guitar, I find myself picking up the GS mini 95% of the time at home. Anyways, just wanted to share that bit of information. Removing adhesive from inside acoustic

2006 D-18v - A wonderful guitar. The previous owner stuck the battery pack to the inside of the body via duct/guerrilla tape and it has finally fallen off. The tape is still very much attached to the body lol and I’d like to remove it without wrecking the wood or leaving a ton of adhesive behind, if possible. Not worried about it looking like it was never there, just don’t want to thrash the inside trying to get it off. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks! submitted by /u/grassrootsvan [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Leftie set up

I am converting a fender dreadnought guitar to leftie for my grandson. I was just turning saddle over and it dawned on me, this may not work. Do I need to order a left handed saddle for the guitar. The B and E sections of saddle are now inverted, will that affect the tone? Thank you in advance submitted by /u/Physical-Ad8065 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

For those of you who have done this, how long did it take to learn one of the older guitar tunes like Vestapol or Sebastopol? When did you learn it and what else had you learned up to that point? submitted by /u/WilliamTK1974 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
