Late in 2021, the Australian Federal Government launched a new campaign called ReMade in Australia. It's a fantastic campaign to demonstrate the importance of recycling, and how it has the power to breathe new life into old things, and we're so pleased to see the Federal Government throwing their support behind businesses like ours, reducing waste by using recycling to create new products. We were invited to the launch in December, and had the opportunity to show Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, and Minister for the Environment, Sussan Ley, our toys and colourful bowls, made from 100% recycled ..read more

Giving back has always been so important to us.  Which is why we were thrilled to partner with The Australian Made Campaign and other generous local businesses to donate our Australian Made Octo-buoy, to be included in “welcome pack” boxes that were gifted to Ronald McDonald House Charities late in 2022. Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing furnished bedrooms, lounges, kitchens, play areas, and laundry and pantry facilities to the families of children staying at nearby children’s hospitals. We hope that these welcom ..read more

There’s no doubt that, with each child we add to our family, our consumption of our planet’s precious resources increases. This is something we’re very aware of as a family, and try to be very conscious of making better eco-friendly choices, and work very hard to reduce waste and unnecessary consumption. Here are our top 3 tips for being more eco friendly as a family… 1. Reduce food waste  Each year, Australians waste around 7.3 million tonnes of food, and this waste accounts for more than five per cent of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions. This is something our family has been very c ..read more

2022 wasn’t our year. I say that for full transparency. Since we launched in 2019, we have experienced significant growth and we’ve been floored (and so grateful) for the wonderful, positive feedback we receive for our Australian Made and eco-friendly toys and tableware. We are a small, Australian business, run 100% by myself (Miranda!) and my husband James. We have worked tirelessly to launch something new each year: 2019 – we launched our flagship toys, The Reef Express Bath Toy Set and The Reef Rescue Crew 2020 – we brought you our super-cute Octo-buoy Stacking Cup Set 2021 – we introdu ..read more

As a mum of three, I’ve done the bath time routine a LOT. It’s that tricky time of night – everyone is tired and ready for bed (parents included!), and the bath routine can feel really overwhelming and a whole lot of hard work. But… little people and water are a great combination, and bath time can be absolute magic for relaxing cranky toddlers, and calming everyone in time for a smoother bedtime. Here’s a couple of my top tips for a smoother bath routine.   Bath products We always have three products on hand – bubble bath, shampoo and a detangling spray. Try and choose brands that only ..read more

Happy Planet Toys Blog

As you may have seen, we are very excited to be introducing children's tableware to our range of products, starting with our colourful bowls, made in Australia from 100% recycled milk bottles. But you may be wondering why a toy company would introduce tableware, so we wanted to share the key reasons why we decided to do this... You asked us! This is definitely the main reason - so many of our wonderful customers and our wholesale stockists said they wanted eco-friendly tableware that was made right here in Australia. So naturally we wanted to oblige! It helps us keep more plastic waste out ..read more

I talk about circular economies, and how great they are, a LOT! So what is so great about the concept of a circular economy, and why is it so important when it comes to sustainability? A circular economy closes the industrial loop – by continually and effectively using existing resources, we eliminate waste, reduce emissions and allow our planet’s natural systems to regenerate. In a nutshell, they’re an awesome contributor to a more sustainable future for our planet. According to circular economy experts, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, there are three essential elements to creating a ..read more

Looking for ideas for a more sustainable gift to give this Christmas? Here’s a few of our favourites… For babies With summer upon us, a reusable swim nappy is an awesome gift. They’re so handy, and avoid multiple disposable swim nappies heading to landfill after just one swim, when a lot of the time they’re not even used! Our favourite brand is Tyoub, and they also sell sustainable swimwear made from regenerated nylon. For kids What about a reusable smoothie cup? Our kids love getting a smoothie or milkshake when we head to the local café. Most cafes don’t use plastic straws anymore, but fo ..read more

Can you believe it’s almost the end of February already? After a huge December, we took a few weeks off in early January, and since then, we’ve been deep in planning mode for the year ahead.
