I'm in the process of rebuilding my 78 town landau and there is a random wire coming off my starter solenoid from the hot side that I can't for the life of me find out where it goes. It's ford branded wire about 14 or 16 awg and the end is a female style slug connector. It's tied with the loom up to my firewall but when stretched to the maximum length it barely reached the carb. And help is much appreciated ..read more

I'm looking at cars and seeing a lot of cracks in the drip rail channels. is this some sort of seam sealer that is painted over or something else? I'm concerned about hidden rust so i past on several because of it. It just looked like a crack in the paint over metal, but the chrome has to connect to the roof somehow correct? Anyone have a restoration pic with all the paint removed so i can understand what's going on there?:yesnod ..read more

Speedway 54-56 Disc Brake Kit & Dual M/C?

Hello All! Hoping for some user feedback on the Speedway Motors 54-56 Ford front disc brake kit #91032000 and dual master cylinder upgrade kit #91032008. Both kits are specifically called out to fit the Thunderbird and their demo vehicle is a ‘56 in their videos and online photos. It looks like they use the GM G-body calipers that have appeared on several other conversions along with the requisite fabricated mounting hardware and 11” rotors. The dual M/C kit uses the familiar Ford dual bowl M/C and a prop valve tuned for front disc/rear drum. Anyone installed either (or both) of these kits ..read more

Hello! I'm a first time owner and dealing with a 1964 Convertible thunderbird top which worked for about a month but no longer works properly. I've read everything I can find but my limited knowledge is getting in the way. From what I can tell my deck lid does unlock when pressing the top switch on the console, I then get a clunking which sounds like I need to adjust the "Deck Closed Limit Switch" - tried this didn't work. I can open the Deck lid using a jumper wire. if I use the jumper wire to raise the Deck Lid 6" and then plug the limit switch back in - I can then use the the top switch (co ..read more
