Interesting choice of woods on this one. The treble wing and the bass wing appear to have significantly different quilt patterns, both on top and, reversed, on the back. The Alembic knobs are actually quite different from the Raytheon knobs on Alligator. The Raytheon knobs are larger and have an angled top, while the Alembic knobs are narrower and have a flat top. Don’t get me wrong, the Alembic knobs are nice. I have them on two ‘70s Alembic guitars. But they aren’t Raytheons. I found old Ratheon knobs somewhere online when I built my Alligator. Welcome to the forum! The 407-D2 size knob is just about impossible to find unless from the Alembic website - where they fetch a heftier price than I’d be willing to pay. The 409-D2 size is larger but is essentially the same design and can be found and had for far cheaper. You’ll have to check availability on this but at one point Tedss.com had the 407-D2 in a gray color. On a positive note, I did pick up a American Vintage 2013 1965 Strat for 1400 bucks because guitar center thought it was a bad guitar because it had chips on a flash coat nitro finish. I think the 65's are the most rare in that series and most ppl went after the 59's and 62's? I am just happy cause the 65 has a bigger neck. It's the same builder, he contacted me and all he said was he is moving my guitar up a shelf and sent a photo. I didn't get a list of builds, so I cannot comment there.
