This was a fun one! Today's look is demonstrating the power of makeup. Makeup does many wonderful things. It has the power to simply enhance your natural beauty, and work with your features. It has the power to completely change your look. It has the power to define, create, alter, and embolden. It truly is magical.
I wanted to play with that theory today. To show you what it looks like for me to wear absolutely no makeup on one side of my face, and a full face of makeup on the other.
But let me be clear - one is not superior to the other. I ..read more

Eyebrows. I think tutorials on eyebrows are my most requested. And I don't blame people at all for wanting to know more on how to fill them in! They are tricky little guys.
The video tutorial below gets into the nitty gritty of eyebrows. Colour to choose, how to fill them in, how to shape them, all the necessary info.
Of course, I am only filling in my own brows for this tutorial - and my brows are sparse and thin. So I require a full overhaul of my brows! For those of you with full brows but just need a little bit of filling in (for e ..read more

A while back I wrote a blog called 5 Minute Makeup Routine. So I thought I would put this 5 minute look to the test! I decided to make this quick makeup look into a 5 minute video.
If you recall from the previous blog written on this look, here are the products I recommend for a quick 5 minute makeup routine:
Tinted Moisturizer
Concealer
Blush
Mascara
Lip Colour
I threw brow colour in the mix too, because it is part of my makeup routine. So change up whichever products suit you to make your own 5 minute routine. If you prefer full coverage f ..read more

Historically makeup was made from plant and animal fats. In the 1950s, silicones revolutionized the beauty industry, bringing new sensory textures to cosmetic products including face and lip makeup. Silicones offered a soft touch and cushiony slip that wasn’t possible before their introduction into the beauty industry.
Have you ever applied a foundation or moisturizer and been impressed by the satisfying sensation as it glides onto your skin? Or the texture of a gloss that makes your lips feel plump and voluminous? The substance that makes lipstick glide smooth and ..read more

Happy International Women's Day!
From its beginnings, Pure Anada has been built around the celebration of women, and individual beauty. We are proud to be a woman-owned, and a primarily woman-run company!
We are honoured to work in community with, and alongside these women; and are so thankful for those who celebrate beauty, and the simplicity and splendour of nature.
There have been countless women who have been a part of Pure Anada’s journey, the ones who dream up new formulas, the ones who pour the lipsticks, and those who believe in our mission and purpose to provide products that are ..read more

While conducting a brief online search the other day, I found that the first Mother’s Day was in the early 1900’s at a church in West Virginia. This special church service had been the result of the efforts made by a woman named Anna Jarvis, who’s own mother had passed away a couple years prior.
Anna’s purpose for this service was to honor Mothers. She wanted Mothers to be acknowledged and appreciated for all they do. Nothing more. No hidden scheme. No money to be made. Simply honor and appreciate the Mother you know and love.
I imagine if she would hav ..read more

Isn't carmine a crushed beetle? Why do you use it in some of your products?
When I first began creating natural makeup in 2005, I solely used mineral pigments as colourants. When creating lip colours, I soon realized there were limitations to the shades I could develop if my only options were minerals such as iron oxides (always warm toned) and mica (always shiny). The most disappointing absence was a true pink or red pigment option without the sheen of mica. However, I kept to my purist philosophy for many ..read more
