I used a ScanGauge 2 for years in my Ford CMax energi. I contacted the company and received programming special for the Kona Electric. Wonderful that it shows 1 to 2 amps just for sitting there (lights and such), yet also shifts the decimal point to show 150 amps under acceleration, and goes negative for regen. Great! I am also able to watch the battery voltage decline slowly as energy is used. Motor temp shows me how hard the motor is working, yet I can see the temp stabilize as it reaches equilibrium. Interesting that the State of Charge is close to what is displayed on the dash, but not ex ..read more

I have used Bridgestone Blizzaks for 2 winters in snowy Buffalo NY front wheels only. This year I am trying 4 Firestone Winterforce 2. No snow yet but They wander a bit on dry grooved pavement. Will sell at the end of this winter and go back to Blizzaks Statistics: Posted by QuickAg80 — Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:28 pm ..read more

I do not have any experience with the Kona in snow. My experience with it in rain was only on the drive back from Vegas and it was a straight away so nothing to report. The factory Nexen tires are noisy and slippery. The Kona is quick and the center of gravity is low so its easy to overdo the handling. The slightest pressure on the brake pedal in excess of 3rd gear Regen causes slipping at most speeds. That being said I worry that a quiet tire would cause serious inefficiencies. There is a Michelin that I was looking at that is designed to be both quiet and low resistance. Statistics: Posted ..read more

Yes to winter tires if you see snow, ice. Front wheel drive EV has too much torque to risk losing control. I will be using Pirelli Winter Ice Zero FR : 225/45R17 on OEM alloy wheels. These should lessen the wheel spin with the Kona electric given there's more tire surface. It worked well on the Bolt EV,drives better than stock Michelins. Will be curious how the Kona's traction control plus stability control is compared to the Bolt, latter isn't good. There is a 215/55R17XL option for the Pirelli Winter Ice Zero FR, Also have used, and worked well on a previous European vehicle: Kumho I-Zen KW3 ..read more

Any update to this post? Did you replace your stock tires? I bought a Kona EV last month and initially tested the acceleration/torque to see if the youtube claims were true. I don't make a habit of punching it though from start or city speed. The only time I put the peddle to the metal is passing at hwy speed. I'm curious though to hear if different tires improved your traction issue. Statistics: Posted by DRIVAEV — Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:00 pm ..read more

Owner from the UK. Put Michelin Cross Climate + tyres on there is less road noise but waiting until it rains to report on increase in traction or not! What stock tyres do you have on your Kona EV? Are they different in different countries, or with the wheel choices I am wondering. Statistics: Posted by admin — Fri Apr 14, 2023 7:47 pm ..read more

Hi, I have a Kona Electric and I love it! However, it's too powerful and when I push the accelerator all the way the wheels spin and lose traction. I am planning to upgrade tires to help with this, but I am wondering if someone else has already done this on their Kona EV? Statistics: Posted by unplugged — Fri Apr 14, 2023 7:47 pm ..read more

There is no camera in the emblem, only the yellow light indicating when the 12V battery is getting topped up. The lane-following camera is at the top of the windscreen. The forward radar sensor is in behind the flat rectangular section in the front bumper. Statistics: Posted by admin — Fri Apr 14, 2023 6:55 pm ..read more
