I relocated the newer tractor seat in the shop area. Found the mounting plate for it too.
The seat is a Marine seat. Most of the Marine seats are UV ray protected in the materials used.
Many of the tractor replacement seats no-long come with UV grade material. When you buy these new seats for $150 to $200, they are only good for 5 years now. So frustrating.
Last summer, I picked this up at a yard sale for $15. It was never used. My current seat is coming apart now too quickly...

I took my hydraulic filter off, which is underneath the tractor. (YM 2000) and in front of the transmission. Cleaned it and tried to reinstall it, but there seems to be something in the hole where the filter goes, causing the filter not to go in all the way. Any help appreciated. Txs. After a little time, I had compiled a listing of Yanmar parts, service and machines for both the Gray and the normal Yanmar US imports from back in the late 70s till the 90s.
If you live in the southeast USA, Fredricks does have a good dealer network to support you. Their 1-year warranty is another plus!
Other than that, there are several areas of support for the Yanmars. All within a days' drive and back or in less time for most of the US population. So, I would concur that support...

Curious to know what trans fluid is recommended and where the most economical place to get it might be? The manual calls for 4 gallons of John Deere 303 or "Hy-Grad" which seems to be a typo in the manual? I'm seeing "Hy-Gard" all over the internet but I read an article about the dangers of 303?:

This is my first post after recently acquiring a Yanmar YM-240. Start-up seems difficult despite what appears to be sufficient fuel. Black smoke while cranking. I use the compression release and the weather is quite warm. I followed prescribed startup procedures from manual, full throttle then back off to approx 1500 rpm.
My thermostart was no good so replaced it. It barely drips fuel from the full reservoir and I can hear the plunger opening after heatup makes a gurgle noise and a...
