These poems were birthed in a Season where God was shifting me. He shut everything down for me to catch up to where I needed to be. He did the same for you. These pandemic poems express the pain I went through as a single woman wondering if I was going to die before I’d be able to experience the love I’d always imagined. Love in the way God promised. This article WAS supposed to be one of anticipation. Prediction, if you will. However, I couldn’t get to it fast enough. So instead, it’s one of a CELEBRATION!!! My fav of the five won! The short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film! I had the pleasure of watching all 5 shorts at 3 Below Theaters located in downtown San Jose, CA. It was a petite theater that showed all of the Oscar nominated short films! Though I only watched the live short action category, I wish I had stayed for the documentary and animation categories. I sat right behind an ol ..read more

What the heck is pickleball?

I find it funny that Andre Agassi and wife Stefanie Graf won a million dollars in a pickleball tournament right as I was finishing his book, Open. A Las Vegas native who became a child prodigy that hated the sport so much that he became the greatest tennis player to ever hold a racket. The Agassi racket was the only one I played with as a kid who took tennis lessons at a country club in Las Vegas. However, due to my asthma, my tennis career ended right after learning the fundamentals from tennis pro Zdenek Cernoch. Though I ended up running track, (go figure) I could relate to how lonely Andre ..read more

The Taylor Swift effect As a sports fan, I must admit how annoyed I was at first, hearing more about Taylor Swift than I was about football leading into the Usher concert, I mean, the Superbowl.  The complaints about how much coverage she’s been getting, over the actual game have been hilarious, but the one thing that’s been cool to see are the number of girls now watching football with their fathers because of it.  Not because of the game, but because of Taylor Swift.  It brings me back to the days my dad took my brother and me to games as kids. Las Vegas was not the sport ..read more

New wine

Last night I had my first glass of wine. Red wine. I’m normally a Moscato, dessert, sweet wine kind of girl. Drink only on occasion. You know, like… when I’m in Napa. On a vineyard. Other than that, your girl doesn’t drink. However, after listening to the audiobook Crushing by T.D.Jakes, I grew inspired. It was a great reminder of how the crushing circumstances in our lives that produce pressure, like crushing grapes to produce wine, are all a part of the process of becoming, and not the end of our story. That pruning is not punishment but creates space for us to grow and become the fullness o ..read more

Today I asked God if he would love me like my future husband would, just until he got here…to fill the void. I woke up weary. I’d been patient for years, throughout my twenties, and was cool being single. Became a homeowner, career-driven, traveled, and did all the “cute” things. Until I turned thirty-three. I was minding my business. Fresh on my new journey with God, just quit my 9 to 5 during the pandemic, and moved to Los Angeles with a few bucks and a couple of dreams. I began unraveling the truth of my call and connecting the dots of many moments that would finally come full circle. Just ..read more

The Massacre of the Innocents “I don’t believe in the bible; it condones slavery.” If only people took the time to read it, they would know that according to Exodus 3 the Lord said, “ I have observed the misery of my people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors. I know about their sufferings, and I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and bring them from that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey.” In order for God to save the Israelites, he sent Moses. He sent Moses. He sent Moses to the King of Egypt, Phar ..read more

Check out our books! The effects of tithing. In Surrender, Bever-leigh gives you a glimpse of her journey of becoming a Christian. She had many different questions and concerns that were common for new believers. “I don’t need to go to church.” “They’re always asking for money!” “I don’t want to turn to my neighbor.” “I don’t know how to pray.” “I tried to read the Bible, I can’t understand it.” “I’m too busy before work to spend time with God.” The truth behind certain ideologies were unveiled when she chose to surrender and abide by the Word of God. Self-discipline through tithing, celibac ..read more

I just couldn’t breathe Through traffic you can no longer weave Because there’s nowhere to go I thought you would learn from rain or snow But now you have no choice But to listen to God’s voice And……SLOW DOWN! Nah, don’t frown now The writing was in the air Smoke from fires causing despair Drowning cities from hurricanes Crashing helicopters and missing planes What yall call it, theories of conspiracy? Why does it have to take a catastrophe? Get a clue, God goes through me to get to you Take this time to recollect Get back to your family and reconnect Redirect your thinking from only paying yo ..read more
