Bild reports on the plan that Felix Magath has concocted if he is to become Hamburg’s sporting director and replace Jonas Boldt. The future of Boldt is in doubt with Hamburg on the verge of missing promotion once again, while the decision to sack Tim Walter and replace him with Steffen Baumgart has backfired. This has resulted in rumours about Jörg Schmadtke or Magath replacing him. If Magath does take charge, he has a plan in place. The first step would be to replace Baumgart as head coach with former Real Madrid and Schalke striker Raul and will promote under-21 coach Pit Reimers to be ..read more

It has now been six years since Hamburger SV last tasted Bundesliga football. The former six-time German champions and one-time former European champions seem to be embroiled in an eternal battle against promotion back to Germany’s top flight. In the past five seasons, only twice have HSV finished in the promotion play-off, coming in the previous two campaigns as their return to the Bundesliga began edging nearer. Regardless, a fourth-place finish seems to be almost certain this season, with the club handing over what appeared to be an almost guaranteed promotion play-off spot to Fortuna Düsse ..read more

Hamburg have confirmed that they have sacked Tim Walter as their manager with the club currently sitting third in the 2.Bundesliga. At the weekend, Hamburg lost 4-3 to Hannover 96. Walter joined Hamburg in 2021 and during his time at the club, he turned HSV into a great footballing team but they always fell short when it came to promotion. The most recent example was Hamburg thinking they were promoted on the final day of last season, only for Heidenheim to leap-frog them and HSV would ultimately lose in the relegation playoff to Stuttgart.  Former assistant coach Merlin Polzin and goalke ..read more
