Video cards with "real" HDMI ports, not converted from DisplayPort?

I think I made an expensive mistake. I bought an Intel ARC 770 video card to upgrade my HTPC from its aging GeForce 1050Ti. Using the same display devices and cables, the GeForce 1050Ti could achieve 4K, 60Hz, HDR output when configured for YCbCr mode. However, as soon as I swapped in the ARC, HDR quit working, and I could only sync up at 30Hz. I did some Web searching to see how to enable YCbCr mode, only to find that the Intel ARC A770 doesn't support YCbCr output, only RGB. Apparently... Read more ..read more

Hello all. I play my UHDs on my PC. I have an LG 43UD79 monitor and a Pioneer AV receiver. Now, I have bought the Curzon Three Colors Trilogy on UHD and I'm trying to find the correct settings in madVR to resemble this screenshot for example, in brightness/gamma: Three Colors: Blue • US Ultra HD Blu-ray vs. FR Ultra HD Blu-ray caps-a-holic.com I see the HDR settings that are changeable, are in the receiver tab: When I use "let madVR decide", I get this picture... Should I upgrade to Windows 11?

Kind of HTPC related. I am planning on connecting my PC to my LG OLED when I am ready to color grade a video project. The video card in my PC does support HDR10, my current monitor does not (the reason I want to connect to my OLED). The PC is running Windows 10, which supports HDR, kind of, with the option of it either being on all the time or off, thus throwing off colors on SDR content. My question is - does Windows 11 auto-detect for HDR? I know Microsoft had planned on adding that... Read more ..read more

DVD/1080p BD movies via JRiver on Z Book Laptop Feeding 32” CRT TV

I need to decide on an external BD burner drive to clone a very rare and OOP DVD movie. But I will also want that drive for sharing DVD/BD movie play duties with my Oppo 95 BD player, where the Oppo feeds the s-video input of my 32” Toshiba CRT TV in my bedroom with a pair of nice DIYed floor standing speakers with 15” woofers. LOL, but I like the CRT’s high contrast ratio and much more that its 4:3 screen lets me view my vintage 1.33:1 aspect ratio content without vertical black bars or... Read more ..read more

Need help with Windows MiniPC displaying static on TV when woken up

I've got my NUC MiniPC (NUC11PAHI5) running Windows 10, hooked up via HDMI to my TV - an Android TV (branded 'Motorola' in my country, but going by firmware, deviceId etc, most likely a rebranded Skyworth) which supports 4K HDR. When I wake it from sleep mode, it displays static, with loud crackly static audio as well. Example video: (strangely, the audio crackling didn't happen when I was recording this video, but it's usually there). Removing and reconnecting the HDMI... Read more ..read more

Today, I just noticed that my mp3 music files will no longer play on the Groove Music app I've been using for the last several years. I actually did uninstall the above app earlier this afternoon. However, when I entered the Microsoft store to install a standard Windows Media Player app, it simply went ahead and installed Groove Music, which I was fine with until I realized that the app won't play ANY of the song files it is actually searching and finding within the files I have... I've wanted an "media PC" for a long time. But finances and practicalities have thwarted me until last year. Previously, it was finances. In 2012 I had the finances, but my goals were in conflict, so I gave up without building. https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/2012-multi-room-htpc.311039/ In 2016, I had a new goal, pretty simple, and doable. And I built my HTPC. I've been tweaking it for the past year, but it's been essentially done the past couple months (and was... Read more ..read more
