Well I think I've found a home for my NUC. As I stated in an earlier post, I built it to try out Windows 11, and frankly it's been sitting around since then as I built another much more powerful Box for my main PC. Anyway, my neighbor at the Cabin at Paul Lake (he's long retired and lives there year round with his wife) recently had an episode where some scammer was able to talk him into letting him have control of his PC (a Box I put together and sold him cheap 9 or 10 years ago, and... Google TV is now hitting users with a food ad the size of their entire screen

Apparently, Google TV is starting to display full screen video ads on the default home screen: Google TV is now hitting users with a food ad the size of their entire screen Your Google TV screen may be turning into a billboard for someone else's midnight snack cravings www.androidpolice.com We use a Chromecast with Google TV for apps like JellyFin, CBC Gem, Netflix, etc. I've put it in apps-only mode so we don't see the home screen and won't see ads, unless Google removes the ability to use apps-only mode. If that happens I guess we'll be going back to an HTPC. These... Google TV is no ..read more

This forum has good to me in the past so I will ask for more advice from you all again. Looking up grade my Intel i-3 cpu with integrated graphics HTPC. Really want to use the same case, so need a m-ATX MoBo. These days I am using Plex as my in-house server, with a Fire Cube, a Fire Stick and a Shield as clients. Wanting to be able to play 4K media files with EAC3 or better sound. The sound system I run is quite adequate for the room. Looking at LGA1700, i-5 or i-7 CPU, GTX1650 or... My music and video media server was having some issues. I also use it for Windows backups, document, photo and video backups. In a previous post I mentioned the HDD was having a lot of SMART warnings. Plus the CPU was an older i5-650. I decided to start hunting for a replacement. I ended up seeing a few clips on YouTube about miniPCs and SFF and liked what I saw. I started to search Marketplace and found this little gem for $120. I found a second one with two drives for $150. Specs are... Amazing little computer getting a second life ..read more

So, purchased a Samsung 32 inch smart TV for my treadmill. Yes, I did. LOL. Since this TV isn't really that smart cause I can't download certain apps I can do on my other Samsung smart TV's, I'm looking to purchase a streaming device. This is what I'm looking to do.... I want to be able to put NordVPN app on it and also put FibeTV on it. I would also like, if possible but not a deal breaker, I'd like to cast from my PC (live streams). There's the Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, I can get... Need Advice on Streaming Device ..read more

We have 4 TV and are avid ROKU users. Mostly to run Youtube and ROKU channels. On the main TV in the living room, there is a ROKU adaptor in HDMI3. I would like to get a transmitter in HDMI2 that will be received in sync by the 3 other TVs that will get receivers also installed in their HDMI2. Is it even possible? If not, the TV in basement has a native ROKU OS not coming from a HDMI port. It could be the 'main' TV, but I would prefer the one in the living room - can't swap them ... Short Version: Someone accidentally disabled a mysterious multi channel sound setting in my Roku Ultra and I spent hours troubleshooting it. Longer Version: My Roku Ultra contains Sound Levelling options (e.g midnight) which disables multichannel sound over the optical AND HDMI outputs and outputs PCM stereo. I never even knew of this setting's existence before. It can only be accessed via the * button while watching a show. You will not find this Audio option in the main settings menu. I...
