My dog is crate trained . She’s 16 weeks and sleeps through the night 10- 7 am in crate and during the day when she is napping I put her in crate 930-11:15 am , 130-3 pm and then 630-730 pm . She takes naps on our lap after dinner . She pees outside but a pee pad is by the door and she uses it the odd time still This has helped me get things done but as I start to plan for the next few months I want to know how long I can leave puppy at 5 months 6 month 7 months etc …. My pup is 16 weeks . When does a dog have the ability to communicate they need to use washroom ? Right now we still have to watch CUES . My 14 week pup came to use at 10 weeks fully pad trained . It was fantastic and then -at 12 weeks we started doing outside exclusively and left the pee pad in old spot for emergency. She has the odd accident and I usually blame myself as I missed her cue or was distracted. Recently she goes outside and refuses to pee or poo … just wants to play and eat leaves . My 11 week old pup is allowed in one area to pee until she gets the second vaccine It’s very stressful because all she wants to do this week is eat pine cone seeds that are everywhere in the grass !
