Chai Carrot Cake
Silk Road Tea Blog

A heavenly pairing of carrot cake & chai that uplifts the spirits. While it tastes decadent, there is more goodness in here than a typical cake. Flaxseeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids & healthy fibre & are used to replace eggs in this recipe.  Carrots also contain fibre, along with beta-carotene. The tea & added spices in this recipe are associated with digestive & immune-boosting benefits. This recipe also makes a scrumptious muffin—just bake it in a muffin tin instead of a cake pan & reduce the baking time. Try it with one of our fabulous tea frostings, but yo ..read more

Get ready to fall madly in love with these magical meringues. They transform into the prettiest shade of mauve-tinted pink, have a beguiling fruity & slightly tart taste that is reminiscent of (but much tastier) than cotton candy.  Irresistible!  The natural colour & delectable taste are a result of our Alchemist’s Brew tea, a zesty & refreshing herbal tea made with hibiscus, rosehips, citrus, spearmint & a hint of cinnamon. Alchemist’s Brew transforms into a tantalizing deep reddish pink hue when you brew it (& also happens to make mouth-watering iced teas, tea s ..read more

This sumptuous dessert is amazing & only takes about 20 minutes to make! Bittersweet chocolate paired with the delicate mint & soft floral notes of ANGELWATER tea give this pudding a truly exquisite flavour. We came across a recipe for dairy-free chocolate pudding in the New York Times, & were inspired to infuse it with tea... it’s worked out brilliantly! While we love it with oat milk, feel free to try making it with other non-dairy milks as well. Because this recipe is so easy to make, it’s fabulous for dinner or cocktail parties when you already have lots on the go or want to ma ..read more

Use your favourite recipe to make either a cream based or non-creamy tomato soup. Both work very well to create an irresistibly smoky tomato soup that is mouth-wateringly delicious, right down to the last spoonful!   Replace a portion of the stock with strongly brewed Lapsang Souchong tea. To make 1 liter, use 3 cups of stock, and 1 cup of Lapsang Souchong tea. To make the strongly brewed Lapsang Souchong tea, use 3 tbsp. of tea to 1 cup water. Bring water to a full rolling boil. Steep 5 minutes and strain. Then pour the brewed tea into the soup pot, along w ..read more

Conquering the Daylight Saving Time Change - Secrets of a Former Night Owl

by Tea Master DANIELA CUBELIC One side of my family are hard-core night owls. When I was younger I wondered if they were secretly vampires, because for them, noon is still “early in the day” & they seem to come alive after the sun sets. I inherited these traits & assumed that feeling lethargic & groggy for most of the morning, but finding it hard to fall asleep until well after midnight was what everyone had to deal with. For over a decade now, I've found it easy to wake up early, feeling refreshed & energetic without an alarm. By resetting my daily habits, & developin ..read more

London Fog Chocolate Chip Cookies
Silk Road Tea Blog
by Rachel Cathro

by Tea Master DANIELA CUBELIC  Tea is a scrumptious, unique & creative way to enhance the taste of desserts, including something as classic as a chocolate chip cookie. The easiest way to bring the flavour of tea into baked goods is to work with recipes that use water as a primary ingredient (rather than just oil or fat). The reason is that tea releases its flavour most effectively into water. While it’s possible to infuse tea into oil, it requires a much longer steeping or infusion time & a dramatically higher quantity of tea than when you are brewing tea in water. Even ..read more
