Hello all, Have been looking into getting a portable winch. I know there are other options but the site here (steep hills and valleys, not great on equipment access) and my limited needs (I'm not looking to turn this into a business, this is all for personal and home use so not a lot of volume is needed). Caveats out of the way, a portable winch will do well for us. Tried buying one from folks at Portable Winch (in Canada) but could not work it out with them. I still think a portable... Good Afternoon! I have a Huskee 22 Ton Log Splitter with a vertical shaft B&S engine that needs to be replaced. I'm having trouble sourcing a new one. I've called around and everyone tells me that I need to have an engine with a heavy flywheel for this type of application. I've looked at the Harbor Freight 5.5 HP Predator engine listed here: https://www.harborfreight.com/engin...ohv-vertical-shaft-gas-engine-carb-69731.html It has the correct shaft... Hey, Looking to build a new bucking table. The one I got is pretty flimsy and not well made. I want something that will hold up well and has proper spacing for cutting logs and slabs into proper firewood length. I've seen some pics of some of your setups, but I can't find them anywhere. So whatchagot ..read more

Log Splitter wheels

The wheels on my Log splitter are very cracked and I found a new pair of wheels very cheap ($20 for the pair at Mardens, if you're from Maine, you know about Mardens). Problem is the splitter axle is 3/4" and the wheels are 1". Is there any reason not to get a steel bushing to make them work? New wheels are probably $100 for a air and bushings shouldn't be more than $10 +or-. I assume that 3/4" axles are slightly undersized for clearance so wheel can slip right on. Problem might be...
