I'm just curious if anyone has fished the Neuse near Clayton and had any luck? I hear a lot about folks catching fish up near Milburnie Dam or down around Kinston but never hear much about the Clayton portion of the river. I've seen a few people fishing for catfish there but never LMB, shad, etc. I've put my kayak in there and fished a few times but never had any luck. My ten yr old son has gotten the itch for chasing blue cats, it's his first bout of being consumed with the thoughts of fishing. So being a good Dad, I want to encourage it.
