Tried last night with about 15 hoops nets between 3 of us. Throwing them far out, close in, edge of the reeds, tried everything. Not a single yabby or a marron. Statistics: Posted by brother_stern — Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:23 am ..read more

Not sure about cicadas, but black crickets are good bait. Fished with them in Hopkins River last April, on the way from work at Mortlake and trout loved them. Statistics: Posted by brother_stern — Thu Jan 18, 2024 12:12 pm ..read more

Cannot help Kestrel. Although I regularly fish the Glenelg, I understand over night stays are not permitted on the Vic side although there are boathouses everywhere close to Nelson. Possibly different on the SA side. Suggest you give the Nelson pub a call. Cheers Mefish Statistics: Posted by mefish — Sun Dec 03, 2023 6:24 am ..read more

Hi Folks I was told some time ago about cabins for rent that have little jetties and are situated right on the Glenelg River. Unfortunately, I can't recall the details. Does anyone know about these? cheers Kestrel Statistics: Posted by Kestrel — Sat Dec 02, 2023 12:54 am ..read more

I fished the upper Goulburn, Jamieson and a few smaller creeks running out of the upper Goulburn for opening. We fished lures and did well at every spot, shallow divers like Norries Laydown Minnows and Daiwa Pressos were the stand outs. We waded the rivers and creeks but there are areas of the Jamieson near Granny's flat which can be fished pretty well without wading. Good evening all, I am booked in for a week at the Jamieson Caravan Park in a few weeks time. I have never fished the area before. I noticed the Jamieson River and Goulburn Rivers are very close by. I intend to do a bit of fishing whilst there and was wondering if anyone knows how this area is fishing at the moment? Would lures or worms be the best way to go? I intend to give both a crack, but any information would be good. Ill post a report with pics once i return home. Thanks! Both lures and worms be good. There can be trout there. Redfin, carp. I was there few years ago right before covid ..read more

A very general question! As a follow up to my camping post: viewtopic.php?f=105&t=26682 I've got most of my camping gear sorted and now considering getting fresh-water specific fishing gear. The lightest two-piece rod I have is an Exceler 7'0" 2-6kg, can't help thinking I need want an Ultralight in 7'6". More finesse and longer. Should I save my money or is a 2-6kg an overkill for the fresh stuff? Not targeting anything in particular, but if anything but I'd imagine redfin and trout etc? Cheers! Caught some last night on the Mornington peninsula. Took me a few trips to work out which areas they are in. Used the open top yabbie nets which fold flat. Bait used was old bacon, fishcake and cooked steamed chicken skin left overs from lunch. Also caught them on mango skins/seeds and old marinara mix in the past. Water level was the highest Ive ever seen it, but haven't fished for them in a few years. cheers Shaz Where on the peninsula if you don't mind me asking?? Would love to tell you where I caught them but unfortunately the only reason they haven’t been fished out is due to the ..read more
