Lure fishing for pollock is something I enjoy . Luckily our lures are all made local and they come in all different colours . The worms work well . The eels work well in silly colours . Those lures are to be tested in depth . And dropshot is so much fun on light tackle... Pollock masterclass ..read more

As a newbie looking to get into lure fishing, I'm trying to put together a collection of lures. I'm off to south Devon at the end of June for two weeks and I am hoping to get a fair bit of fishing done, mainly from the rocks but also from the beach, if suitable. I've got a few metals (jigs, toby's and dexter's), some hard plastics and a few different soft plastics. All the SPs are weedless I can see the obvious advantages of weedless SPs - they are less likely to snag. However, are there... Weedless or Not ..read more

day of rest this Friday, well almost: a little work at home then fishing this afternoon (it feels good to return to the water's edge: some work at my daughter-in-law's house last weekend to welcome the baby in less than 2 weeks ... fortunately I went because the stepson is not very good: he has two left hands ) In short, the water level has been stable since my last outing (still 1.5 meters above the normal level) and the visibility is also 150 cm, which is why I'm starting with jerk... some fishing ..read more

As the title says. I've bought some squid type lures off Amazon but didn't realise the things glow in the dark. Now, this has got me thinking (it doesn't happen often as it generally ends up costing me loads of money) Can fish like Bass and Pollack etc see light in the UV spectrum.? If they can, do glow in the dark lures actually work for them? Or do they catch more anglers than fish ..read more

Back home for 2 weeks holiday in July and rather than spend the 180 quid quoted for me to take my 2 piece rods on the plane thought I might buy a travel spin/lure rod. I've got a 9 foot Shimano STC in the cellar, unused for years but the material around the reel seat has gone all sticky and gooey ? I really fancy one of the 9 foot 6-28 grm Dialuna travel rods but can't find one anywhere. Anyone tried one or know where they have them in stock that will ship over here ..read more

I'm heading to Harris second week in May for some kayaking (real one, so for access possibly but not to fish from) and shore lure fishing. Mainly interested in pollock, but if there's opportunity to for sea trout permission then that's also good. Any advice on suitable areas or headlands appreciated. We'll be based at the campsite in Horgabost. Thanks ..read more
