I’m up in New Hampshire and when I don’t have time to hit the salt, I sneak over to local ponds to bend the rod. These ponds have a ton of weeds taking up most of the water column, leaving few open water options.   frogs work but I am looking for options to throw to get through that thick vegetation and maintain presentation.   whopper plopper has been ok, but still very susceptible to picking up weeds just below the subsurface.    Thanks in advance ..read more

My dad who is 85 years old enjoys freshwater fishing and gets around pretty well but rough/uneven terrain is understandably a challenge.  He told me he tried a spot on the peconic river yesterday that he’d fished a bunch of times before and did not feel safe due to the relatively steep and uneven approach. I have been fishing Central Park regularly for the past 8 years from 59th to 110th and everything in between. I've noticed in the past several years a serious decline of fish (bass) in all lakes, it's like they're all giving me the Bronx cheer (the middle finger). When I started it was common to catch bass on every outing, and a few spots I knew, a few fish at the same place within minutes of each other. Last season added spot lock to my 16 MIrroCraft.  Awesome in that I can stop and hold anywhere and in just about any condition without need to deploy the anchor.  Usually once I use an anchor I tend to stay in that spot longer so the spot lock allows me to fish more and make small and large moves with ease.   The downside is the motor is constantly running on and off.  Noise and vibration.     Does anyone else feel that the motor on and off and changing speeds spooks fish?  Heck I sometimes even shut off the sonar because of the noise especially in shall ..read more

IDK where exactly this thread goes, but hey! This is a fresh water only boat, a 1236 jon. I put my re furb trailer under it and it's solid. Overkill, but price was right. I have a jon boat hack for my bow mount, 55 lb . Pics to follow... A transom 55 lb thrust and one battery.  I ran for 3 hours, mostly running and had 68% left. Bring oars! Fishing a local CT lake today, got a strike, missed the hookset on the fish but caught this instead.   It was eating my nightcrawler and had a impressive set of jaws.     That's a No. 6 baitholder hook and my thumb is about an inch wide for size reference.   Kinda looks like a cricket, but ive never seen a cricket livong underwater.  ..read more
