I've had sets of the Pirelli SottoZero on my C4 for winter for the last ten years. Great tyre, gives lots of confidence in snow and it's reasonably capable on thin ice. Not so great in temperatures above 5 degrees, which is typical of winter tyres.
I've no experience of the other tyres ..read more

Hello again
I was very active on here up until about 3.5 years ago when I sold my '99 996 3.4 which I basically rebuilt everything except the engine.
I regret selling it but needs must, it was my only car at the time. I dearly miss the sublime steering of the 996 and the cable throttle M96
Anyway I just got my hands on this for an unbelievable amount of money considering the wheels it is wearing. The PO had gone over the car mechanically and it drives spot on. However he also attempted to repaint much of it which was not so successful (lac ..read more

Good to see you back Wasz!
Knew you wouldn’t be away for long.
Looks a great little car and good to see you getting stuck straight in. I love early Boxsters. Nice colour, is it Arena red? Good colour once detailed.
I liked the wheels that came on it but understand your reasons for selling them. I thought the 17s would kill the look but it still looks great and as you say it will drive that bit purer.
Jonny Smith (Late Brake show) has just bought a cheap Boxster too. In fact he thought his was the cheapest in the count ..read more

That's a lovely little Boxster - mine has the same wheels yours came on (actually so does my 996), and I've wondered about dropping to 17's but I like how it looks too much!
Intrigued by the 3d printed console delete. I have a genuine Porsche one in the 996, but would like one in the Boxster too - be interested to see how you get on carpeting it ..read more

Something very odd going on in the world.
Welcome back GT4, and long time no see Mohitos.
Who's next - James Hunt (for those that remember him, and that camel spider)
Doubt you'll see James Hunt back on these pages. It wasn't hls decision to stay away.
Clarky Cat, now his post were always worth a read.
Would defo be a surprise, Malcolm, but with the resurrection of others, and the profile issue, you never know!
Hope all good with you.
Yes, all good thanks Rob, y ..read more

I'm absolutely loving this car BTW, though it is quite different to the 911.
The weight balance (and less trick rear suspension) changes the driving dynamic, I didn't expect it. I remember trail braking late in the 911 to get the weight forward avoiding understeer then monstering out of a corner. On this I'm, sure you can carry more speed through a corner, but clearly doesn't pull itself out of the corner so well,
Less power (way less) is not really that much of an issue though I do miss the variocam. 3.4 swap? I also weirdly miss the smel ..read more

Hi, as the 986 complete roof is relatively easy to remove as a complete unit could anyone advise me if it’s easier to replace the roof fabric this way or in situ please?
Thanks in advance for any help or additional tips on this ..read more

Hey, at least you can stop protesting so much about definitely NOT being George Eaton (go on, admit it, it was a bit of a stroke to the ego)
