Another setback for WTCS: Montreal canceled, organization doesn’t get enough public funding

This year’s WTCS season seems plagued by setbacks; after WTCS Abu Dhabi, the season opener, was cancelled a few weeks back due to severe weather, now WTCS Montreal is crossing a line. That race was not supposed to take place until the end of this season, but the organization is not getting enough public funders on board and is now forced to pull the plug on the race. According to the organization, the budget planning cannot be completed and it is too great a risk to continue without the necessary funders. National governing body Triathlon Ireland has confirmed that the new Cork City Triathlon will also be the stage for a 2024 Europe Triathlon Cup, set against the backdrop of the area’s scenery and historic landmarks. Ironman has announced that Riviera Nayarit in Mexico will host the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Riviera Nayarit triathlon set to take place on November 10, 2024. The new IM 70.3 Riviera Nayarit triathlon will start with a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim in the Pacific Ocean. The Marathon River Swim Series has been established by three open water marathons in Europe: the Flow des Gabarriers (France), the UltraEbre (Spain) and the Thames Marathon (UK). Swimmers are invited to participate in each of the events, to be crowned ‘Marathon River Man or Woman’. More than 100 professional triathletes are slated to toe the start line at the 2024 Ironman on April 27. Continuing the the Ironman Pro Series after its debut at the 2024 Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, this will be the first full-distance IM triathlon to count towards the IM Pro Series standings, offering professionals a maximum 5,000 points. Sad news: Mother of Javier Gomez passed away

There was much speculation as to why Javier Gomez decided last-minute not to start at the PTO T100 in Singapore, but now the very sad reason is known: the multiple Spanish champion’s mother has passed away. In Singapore he was told that his mother’s situation was deteriorating, so he flew back directly to still be able to say goodbye to her.
