Pretty sure the SND Kayak shop at Saint Clement rents them out. If not try King's Sports in Vallouise, as they definitely do.

I do a weekly Pilates class, primarily to help my lower back, but it's whole body exercises. One thing the instructor is insistent about is that shoulders must be pull down, "away from the ears" before any arm or shoulder exercises, to keep the joint stable. I don't think reaching across for a bow rudder is harmful, but raising the elbow above the shoulder to do so is a risk.

Which means the OP will be 36 by now. The horror, the horror. Poor old fella has probably jacked it all in and taken up snooker or something instead..
Or golf...

Suspect the reason you've not had any responses is because most UK boaters wouldn't head off for their european paddling trips in autumn/winter.
There's probably loads to choose from. Might be worth looking at the ususal summer destinations, except you'll be way more likely to have them to yourself.
Main thing to be aware of is that you might have higher water than in summer. ~
I've done the Ardeche Gorge in March/April before the season started and it was a completely different experience to the summer with literally noone about!
There'll be similar rivers; Dordogne, Allier and Tarn which I'm ..read more

I can only reiterate what everyone else has said. Don't rush back, see a sports physio, do strengthening exercises and stay positive. I did my shoulder about 10 years ago and i'm now back paddling to the same level i was before. My only concession is a neoprene shoulder brace and for longer trips eg Alps i'll tape it up with kinesiology tape. Other than its been fine and all movement and strength are back. Stay positive and think long term. Better to miss a season and get it fully fixed than rush it and risk it happening again.
Hi, what shoulder brace did you use?

This site https://www.eauxvives.org/en/niveaux/en-direct/view/682 implies that there is a gauge, but it's not delivered a reading for about a year.
Even then, looking at the name of the gauge (Lavertezzo) and comparing it to the location of Lavertezzo on a map, I'm not sure whether or not it was inferred from the level of another river?
Either way, end of May should be a good time to catch it. There should be enough other boaters around to give you some good beta on it. Assuming the campsite on the island at Campertogno is still going, a few days hanging out and paddling local to there and yo ..read more

heading to Val Sesia at the end of the May, I was looking at the Ribo waterfall/river. Is there a gauge on the Ribo river or nearby that would give us an idea of if it is running/level?
