We are delighted to announce that we now have dates arranged for our next beginner’s course. It will start at 7.30pm on Monday 22nd February 2024 in Purley and run weekly for eight evenings. The Croydon Honey Show is our annual celebration of bees and beekeeping and will be held this year on Saturday 16th September 11:00am-4pm at The Selsdon Community Centre (in the Sainsbury’s building), 132 Addington Road, Selsdon, CR2 8LA. The Selsdon Community Centre There is ample parking available in the Sainsbury’s car park and on Old Farleigh Road. The following bus routes serve Selsdon: 64, 357, 359, 409, 412, 433, 612, 654 & 685. All are welcome Visitors will be made very welcome, there’s no entrance charge – come and look at produce of the hive, see live bees in our observation hive ..read more

2023 Apiary Sessions

With the season (almost) in full swing, the Sunday apiary sessions are set to start again at the Hartley Down apiary in Coulsdon. There will be a variety of practical demonstrations for both beginner and intermediate beekeepers as well as the usual beekeeping chat and advice. Sessions start at 2:30pm and run for approximately 2 hours. Please enter the allotment site on foot, there is plenty of parking in surrounding streets. This year, as well as the Hartley Down allotments apiary in Coulsdon, we are able to commence sessions at the Mark Stott Apiary in Crystal Palace Park for the first time. There will be a variety of practical demonstrations for both beginner and intermediate beekeepers as well as the usual beekeeping chat and advice. Our partner organisation, Mrs Burney’s Bee Club CIC aims to provide high quality, hands on education which builds confidence and environmental awareness in children through the amazing world of bees. They run hands-on interactive classes for 8–13-year-olds teaching them all about bees and other pollinators. The group will have a hive of their own to care for throughout the beekeeping season. The full schedule of Croydon Beekeepers winter meetings has been announced. They will all take place in our new regular winter home, Christ’s Church in Purley. There is parking available in front of the church, or it is an easy walk from the centre of Purely with its rail and bus connections. Whilst these events are organised primarily for our members, visitors are very welcome to come along. Entry is free but we suggest a donation of £2 to help us with venue costs.
