Having a song go Platinum is quite a feat for a songwriter. Having that record go nine or ten times Platinum is reserved for those in rarified air. On Wednesday night (October 25), the National Music Publisher’s Association celebrated their Gold & Platinum songwriters at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee. In the crowd were some of country’s finest purveyors—all of whom have secured mammoth hits.

From April to July, a total of 2,116 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum certifications were awarded.

A group of 17 music publishers sued Twitter on Wednesday, accusing it of copyright infringement on about 1,700 songs, and is seeking as much as $250 million in damages, the latest headache for the social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
The publishers filed the suit in Federal District Court in Nashville, saying Twitter violated copyright law by allowing users to post music to the platform without permission. Negotiations between Twitter and the music industry to put broad licensing agreements into place had broken down months ago.

During the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) annual meeting on Wednesday (June 14), the trade organization said it calculated total U.S. publishing revenue at $5.6 billion in 2022, up from $4.7 billion in 2021 — a more than 19% increase year over year.
