The year for Cadium had a nice string of highlights, as the company signed metal act Attila, and pop artist Rachel Lorin, amongst some other notable moments. Attila Attila is in the midst of a re-birth, dropping new songs throughout 2023 and gaining some traction at outlets, such as Octane (Sirius XM), with “Bite Your Tongue” and “FU4EVR.” The Atlanta-based quartet toured Europe over the summer and completed a U.S. run, shortly thereafter. The guys will continue to release new material throughout 2024. Rachel Lorin Rachel Lorin continued to release new material this year with some stand-outs ..read more

Writer/producer, Curtis Martin, has made numerous appearances on Billboard’s top Hard Rock Producers chart, debuting at number 9, then peaking at No. 5 in the reporting week of 1/21/23. (As of this writing, Martin has since re-entered the chart at No 10.) Martin’s appearance on the chart is fueled by Catch Your Breath’s latest single, “Dial Tone,” which Martin co-wrote and produced.  The modern/alternative rock track has been receiving sizable support from CYB’s label, Thriller Records, which the band signed to last year. “Dial Tone” is at almost 12 million Spotify streams, at the ..read more

Great Songs You Might Not Have Heard Of

Cadium Music Publishing has added an additional playlist to its Spotify account. Titled, Great Songs You Might Not Have Heard Of, the list shines a light on non-Cadium tracks that haven’t received the attention they deserve. The obvious question is why would Cadium do that? While Cadium is proud of its writer roster and always wants more people to be exposed to the many great songs in its catalog, there is never enough great material being exposed to consumers. (How many times do we complain about some of the mediocre music on the airwaves?) Another reason is that this list can serve to exten ..read more

The Lack of Song Quality in Today’s Rock Acts

Gene Simmons continues to claim that rock is dead. The ongoing dialogue by Simmons and others on this topic fascinates me, because the lack of song quality in today’s rock acts rarely, if ever, enters the          conversation in this debate. In an article in Metal Injection by Greg Kennelty, Kennelty takes on Simmons’ point of view on the life or death matter, and while I don’t believe that fans killed the genre due to streaming, a Simmons opinion, some subscribers to Metal Injection offered their reason for the lack of dominance in the genre. While I respect some of ..read more

Admittedly, this post should have come earlier in the quarter. Instead of a close look at what transpired over the last few months, this piece has morphed into becoming Cadium Music’s 2021 Year-End Wrap. The year got off to a fast start with the signing of writer and Rikets frontman, Scott Rose. COVID-19, however, continued to interrupt the creative process and the production of the new Rikets album, which included potential collaborations with Mark Lorenzo, got shelved. Southbound 75 Continue to Rise Southbound 75, continued to build its base in south Florida and finally released Tales from ..read more

After some jockeying around to find a time to put out the record, Piel have a release date and it’s December 10. The album is A.K.A. Ma. Piel signed to Birs Recordings earlier this year. The New York label is known for releasing records on 180 gram, high-quality vinyl. In the ensuing days and weeks after the signing announcement, it was assumed by many involved that the release date would easily be scheduled for this year, but with the heavy demand for vinyl, the pressing plant contracted by the label wasn’t even sure it would be able to press the records by the end of 2021. Fortunately, the ..read more

Alternator Records to Officially Launch After 20 Years
Cadium Music Blog

It is said that some things take time. In the case of Alternator Records, founded by writer/producer/mixer, Michael James, it took a very long time. One cannot say that it was due to a series of mishaps, harsh challenges or bad luck. One can say that sometimes it just comes down to timing. Keeping that in mind, what steps led to Alternator Records to officially launch after 20 years? After observing Michael over the years, it came down to taking advantage of an unusual gap in his almost non-stop mixing schedule to focus on nurturing Alternator. When James (legal name, Michael James Marchesano ..read more
